Description

Description

The Eagle Heavy Duty from Al Mar Knives is built for the individual that carries the Eagle Ultralight for their “EDC” and needs a tougher version with the same features as the SERE 2000. Well here it is, the all new Eagle “HD” Heavy Duty. The “HD” weighs in at only one ounce more than the Ultralight™ version, it has skeleton-ized heat treated 400 series stainless steel liners , G-10 scales, adjustable action, dual thumstuds and our reversible/removable pocket clip system which attaches through the lanyard hole. Just as the Eagle Ultralight is very easy to carry and disappears in your pocket, so does the Eagle Heavy Duty. Al Mar took the same great profile and slim design and added strength and features.

The Al Mar Eagle HD has been on my short list. I remember seeing Nutnfancy's in depth review on the Eagle HD and thinking I needed this knife.

It is a capable knife for its thinness. A sharp 4 inch blade for 3.5 ounces. The pivot is adjustable but it has a pinned construction so dont plan on taking it apart.

My only issue is the lock up isn't as solid as I expected. There is some play vertical and horizontal. Its slight but its there. This is not a knife that is good to flick open. Doing that a few times I think caused the blade play.

Minor criticisms aside this is a really nice knife. You wont be hammering on it. Thats not its purpose. But its so slim its easy to conceal in any pocket. Worthy purchase.
