Description

Description

Lucas Burnley's Kwaiken design has been a breakout success for Boker! The carbon fiber version improves on an already proven design, adding hi-tech materials and the new flipper feature for quicker deployment. The intuitive operation and the added security make the carbon fiber Kwaiken a real treat.

This model features stunning carbon fiber scales which gives the knife a custom look and feel without the price. The blade has a satin finish and the upgraded VG-10 steel. The flipper opener is paired with an IKBS pivot for smooth action.

It took hundreds of flips to loosen it up but now it's a simple stroke of the flipper and it pops open and locks tight. Excellent steel, carbon fiber handle, nice size for my large hand but mostly it's the minimalist aesthetics that make this knife one in a thousand. It's one I don't carry because I don't want to scratch it, but as an every day carry it would come out of the pocket fast and flip open fast and smooth with a wicked blade. Get one while you can. Mine is #0341.
Good from afar, but far from good.

This is one of the few non-American folders I picked up from BHQ. It's a good looking folder with a nice blade shape, but I have a few issues that made me take off two stars.

1) The pocket clip is conspicuous, and it carries superficially, not deeply, so if your shirt is tucked in, you will be seen carrying a pocket knife.
2) The carbon fiber scales are too slippery for my taste.
3) It would be better if the old thumb stud was still present since deployment with the non-assisted flipper is not perfect on mine, and certainly requires some wrist action. This would be a non-issue if the thumb stud was present. First star lost.
4) With the folder closed, I gripped it firmly in a fist, and the cutting edge of the blade went past the spine of the handle causing a small "man-cut" in my palm. Second star lost, and permanent placement back in the box. Thank you.
Holy Moses!

First let me say that I was hesitant on buying the Boker Plus Kwaiken based on the YT videos that are out there, however I thought that if I didn't like it or received a questionable build, I would just return it and be out the return shipping cost.

Well I just want to tell you that I could not be happier and more genuinely impressed for this purchase! The batch I bought in July 2015 is perfect! The fit & finish exceeds my exceptions of a $136 knife and would rival other knives costing twice as much or more IMHO.

The carbon fiber scales are perfectly executed-smooth, no voids, no sharp edges, perfect fit and with a beautiful satin-like sheen. The satin finished VG-10 hollow grind blade is gorgeous and flies out smoothly on IKBS bearings. There is NO liner lock on this build. The blade markings are much more subtle (not quite as dark) than the pictures show and I'll glad about that!

I guess the only thing I could wish was different was the flipper tab-I too think it's designed in reverse, however it is true to the Lucas Burnley's Custom Kwaiken design. It still flips amazing though.

I think Boker also watched the YT vids and saw the criticisms and complaints and finally made the adjustments (I hope).
