Lucas Burnley is slowly but surely building an impressive portfolio of production collaboration pieces with some of the best in the business. After a phenomenal launch of the Squid with CRKT, we decided to upgrade the standard version with some premium materials.

This Blade HQ exclusive CRKT Squid model features a stunning carbon fiber handle on the front side, with a stainless steel* frame lock on the other. The Sandvik 12C27 blade has a nice black stonewash finish and thumb studs are utilized to deploy the spear point blade, which has jimping/grooves for added grip. A nice black stonewash finished pocket clip rounds the knife out. These are a limited edition run and numbered "*/500".

Based on Lucas Burnley's popular compact custom knife, the Squid is a hit, not just because of its accessibility, but also for the value and performance factors that CRKT brings to the table.

*There was a misunderstanding regarding the handle material. It is actually stainless steel, not titanium. We apologize for the confusion.

Update 11/03/16:

Lowered back to 3 stars due to the steel (or possible heat treatment). The blade requires touch up after even light use, the edge rolls after the first cut. Most of the time stropping works, but sometimes a light touch up with on a fine paste is required to bring the edge back. Sharpens within seconds, the steel is so soft that it doesn't stay sharp at all

Update 10/5/16:

Having carried and used the knife for a couple of days now I want to update my review and add a star. The knife if comfortable enough for its size, cuts very well and carbon fiber adds a bit of traction otherwise non-existent on steel version. Being so small it is harder to open but handles well. I added a little pinkie paracord lanyard that made it much easier take out of the pocket. My previous "cons" still stand but don't seem as important to take 2 stars off anymore

Original review:

378/500 serial number,

The knife itself is quite good, carbon fiber makes it very lightweight and the size is great for EDC in "restricted" areas while being a great cutter. A few disappointments though:

- the knife is not signed, probably only a few first numbers are, despite some reports

- there is no "limited edition" certificate of any kind, just a generic CRKT box

- the carbon fiber portion of the scale is not finished up to my expectations, the inside edges are sharp with some carbon fray or something, crying for a pass with a sandpaper.

- clip is pretty tight and screws are sticking out enough to interfere. Clipping the knife to the pocket requires some fiddling to clear the screws. Taking it out requires some force

- Factory edge is quite sloppy, but nothing Edge Pro won't fix

All-in-all, I wish I'd skipped this version and got the regular one for $20, there is really no reason to pay almost twice for this one
This lil guy is awesome!

I've been eyeing the squid for awhile now but they've seemed a little meh until this one came around and I'm glad I was able to nab this one when I did. I just like a small but capable blade. And the squid hits it one the nose! Thanks Blade Hq! Not to mention it was delivered insanely fast as per usual.

I just got my limited edition squid today. Saw them listed before knife day and ordered as soon as they were available. When I opened the package I got the added surprise of finding I had received number 3/500. And on top of that, despite no mention on bhq site or review vid, my knife was personally signed by the man himself Lucas Burnley. Keep it classy
