Description

Description

The Stinger model is a groundbreaking knife that features SM-100, a nickel-titanium alloy. Previously only used on one-off knives, Ferrum Forge has been part of the pioneering effort to promote this material for use in blades. The Stinger is the first knife model to utilize SM-100 in a production run – a limited run of just 100 knives.

Ferrum Forge's standard Stinger knives have a tumbled titanium frame lock handle with a blue anodized pivot and pocket clip. Blade color will vary from knife to knife. As with other FFKW knives, the Stinger is outfitted with a steel lock insert/internal overtravel arrestor, H.R.D. (Hoback Rolling Detent), and caged thrust bearings.

It's strange to have a pocket knife with this minute amount of weight on the front end. Flips nice and quick. I would agree with Tyler J. on that this does feel like it needs some breaking in. With HRD one would think opening the knife would feel like glass but there is a little roughness I'd guess I would call it on the HRD. Possibly it needs to score the detent track on the blade, then the full benefits of the HRD I assume can be felt. Perfect size for an EDC. Colors on the blade are a nice touch.
Nice little flipper

Only reason for the 4 stars is because there was a bit of breaking in to do. Right out of the box the action was gritty and rough but after applying some nano oil and flipping it a lot it has smoothed out considerably. Other that, this is a perfect size knife. It's light and sturdy and will be replacing my small sebenza for a while.
