Description

Description

Based on the Liong Mah designed Ace knife, this limited production version was redesigned with Housam "Sam" Abdelrahman of HEA Designs. It has a tumbled barong style blade, made from CPM-S35VN stainless steel, that opens predictably on the smooth ball-bearing pivot using the flipper opener. The open-built, double stand-off 6Al4V titanium handle is tumbled and outfitted with a milled titanium clip. The frame lock tab has a hardened steel insert that also acts as an over travel stop. Made by Reate, this knife is solidly built and continues their exceptional track record in the knife industry.

Design is very good, with a good grip. Blade design is quite beautiful (to me, at last). But the implementation..... Flipperīs very hard, many time seems "to lock". Flipper lever seems "biased" and not well carved. Clip shakes and I couldīt fix it. Itīs a real shame (and a pity)

I have carried this knife for the past couple days and am really enjoying it. I know this is thrown around loosely these days but the ergonomics for this knife are beyond excellent. I have smaller hands but I just seem to melt into the handle when grasping it. I would imagine with larger hands this may not hold as true. This Ace is so sleek and aerodynamic (for lack of a better word). The lines meet and flow together quite nicely and you may find yourself staring at it for extended periods without meaning too. The fit, finish and lockup are executed really well. Lock up is oh so early with a 10 to 15 percent out of the box. Anytime I get a knife with these lock up characteristics right out of the box it typically lends itself to a fabulous break in period. Stout feeling in hand like most other knives Reate has a hand in producing. Actually when I heard the maker had gone to Reate for production, I was instantly interested as their quality control is first rate and better than many USA produced full titanium knifes at twice the cost. My wife says this knife is, and I quote, "sexy". Also a girl at my work ask to borrow "my knife" to peel an orange and upon returning it she remarked, "this thing is cool". Money well spent I say. This knife is definitely worth the asking price and I do not think anyone could be disappointed with it. I know it is technically a production knife but is has mid tech written all over it. If you are on the fence I would say definitely grab this limited production blade before it sells out because it surely will.
