This MBX / DED Blade bundle fits the Beretta M9/M9A1, 92FS/92A1 & 96FS/96A1.
The MBX Magazine Base Interchange System™ (MBX) is an innovative, patent pending replacement magazine base coupling system that provides the user an alternative deployment of different attachments via this new coupling system for tactical military, law enforcement, and home-security/self-defense applications.
The DED Blade™ (double edge defense blade) is black DLC coated 3/16" thick CPM-3V steel and measures 2.95" when deployed in the MBX. As a general rule, no one should try to use a new tool/weapon without practice, which is why the Manly Not-So DED Blade™ training blade is included. It is machined from 6061-T6 aircraft aluminum and has a type-3 deep red hard coat anodize for wear resistance and safety designation, with flat chamfered edges from the head of the tang to the rounded tip overall safety in training.
Prior to use, the proprietary DED Blade™ attachment is stowed in its ambidextrous, MOLLE®/PALS® compatible sheath, which can be attached via MOLLE®/PALS® style attachment straps, or (i.e. MALICE CLIP® or Molle Lok®) to the webbing of the tactical vest, plate carrier, or to utility belt clips designed for knife sheath attachment. The DED Blade™, is stowed safely in the sheath until required for use, and is attached/deployed by pressing the magazine base interface directly over the exposed portion of the head of the DED Blade™ or Not-So DED Practice Blade™. The coupling system will engage and retain the DED Blade™ head (or Not-So DED Practice Blade™ head) for combat or training.
The DED Blade™ is released/stowed quickly and safely by first leading and pressing the DED Blade™ (or practice blade) back into the sheath and pressing the release button. The MBX has a spring assist to assure the blade (and all accessories) is released from the magazine base without binding or dragging. The MBX is ambidextrous; with a simple internal re-positioning, the MBX can be converted from RH to LH in under a minute, so the release button can be positioned on either side.
NOTE: Attachment systems not included - The user will need to attach the sheath to either a duty belt or tactical vest using a personal choice of mounting systems such as Tactical Tailor's Malice Clips, Blade Tech's Belt Clip / Duty Loop / Molle Lok, or other brand mounting systems. The head of the blade when in the sheath requires a 1/2" space between away from gear/body using spacers for the base to properly engage.
