Description

Description

Microtech has updated the venerable Ultratech knife. While the dimensions and action remain the same as the previous model, this latest version features the effective, visually stimulating "tri-grip" texture. Further enhancements include beveled edges, a modified thumb slide, tri-angle hardware, and an everyday-friendly glass breaker tip. The end result is an impressive Ultratech that improves upon what has become the must-have OTF automatic.

This Ultratech has a two-tone black finished drop point blade with a plain cutting edge. Its black anodized 6061-T6 aluminum handle has tactical black finished pocket clip, glass breaker and stainless steel hardware.

For those unfamiliar with the Ultratech, it's a fully automatic knife with a double-action out-the-front mechanism, meaning the thumb slide deploys the blade and retracts it as well. The Ultratech knife from Microtech has set the bar for all OTF knives.

I've had this knive for a couple weeks now. For the price my expectation weren't met. The aluminum scales detail are sharp edged and to me look like tire tread. The thumb action is very stiff and feels like a cheese grader. I'll probably take some sand paper to smooth it out a little. The blade action seems a little slow not too much just a little slow. This knife is built like a tank. Which is good. I'm not sure if I'll be able to service it my self. We'll see.
