Superb automatic knife
Jon B.
I own other SOG knives (both assisted opening and automatic) and this is the best SOG folder yet!

"Shaving sharp" right out of the box and the blade "snaps to attention" as quickly as a Marine DI ! The blade has NO play/wobble and there's no rattle in the mechanism at all. SOG has really "done it's homework" this time.

The AUS-8 steel that SOG is using is superb. The 6061-T6 black anodized aluminum handle provides great purchase. This makes the Spec Elite II auto an excellent value for the money.
Fantastic knife

After I opened the box, I was surprised how compact the knife was, I thought it would be larger, the aluminum handle felt stronger than I expected, it also came very sharp, after turning the safety off, I pressed the button, WHAM! It came out fast and hard, I own a smaller spring assisted knife, which is fairly fast, but nothing like this 4 inch automatic, it comes out with a lot of force so be careful when handing it to someone else to try out, It has a very small amount of blade play, which bothered me at first, because my last knife was a paramilitary 2 and that was rock solid, but the sog is an automatic so there has to be a little play, I know you can adjust the pivot point, I just don't feel the need to. The sog has been my EDC knife for the last few weeks, and i think it handles that better than the paramilitary 2 due to the pm2's broad blade, although I love both knives, I find myself carrying the sog more, the handle is the same length as the pm2, but the blade is longer, I haven't put the sog to any hardcore cutting tasks, and i think the pm2 would do better in that scenario, but I think the sog spec elite 2 auto is my new favorite knife.
Quality auto!

I'm somewhat amazed that SOG is able to offer this knife at less than half the cost of other comparable knives. It's very light, thin, and stout. For me the size is perfect. The blade is razor sharp out of the box. The fit and finish is excellent. The action is lightning fast and it locks up nice and tight. If you buy this knife you will not be disappointed. One note, I noticed that I could hear the spring wind up when I closed the knife so I gave it couple of drops of CLP and now it is dead silent. As always BladeHQ provides value and customer service that is beyond reproach.
Lives up to the reputation

I bought this knife purely on the basis of internet forum and video recommendations, including a Nutnfancy "10 out of 10". It does not disappoint. The blade shape reminds me of the Benchmade 710, perhaps the most elegant folding knife I know. It is thinner than the 710. I don't know how they squeezed the auto spring into such narrow scales. The feel in the hand is absolutely solid and the action quick and positive. There is no vertical play and only the slightest side-to-side, about as good as it gets in an auto. I would highly recommend the SOG Spec Elite II to anyone in the market for a good-sized automatic knife.
