Caleb Musgrave, designer of the Dragonfly 4.5 fixed blade, is a wilderness skills instructor of the Mississauga Ojibway Nation in Ontario Canada. Caleb has traveled across much of Canada and the eastern United States and has received training from some of Canada’s best survival instructors, including countless Native elders. Caleb has spent three-quarters of his life enveloped in bushcraft. Caleb currently lives in his home community, the Mississaugas of Rice Lake, where he has run the wilderness school Canadian Bushcraft since 2008. His straight-shooting style of education, mixed with his wry sense of humor has made him a fan favorite amongst his students and colleagues.

Knife needs vary by region and individual preferences. The Dragonfly 4.5 is a lighter weight, more nimble knife that is made to be supplemented with an axe and saw for felling trees, while the knife tackles the more precision oriented chores. This knife is the product of over 7 years spent evaluating various fixed blades and noting their pros and cons. The Dragonfly isn't a radical new knife, but is instead a highly refined fixed blade for a specific group of users. It has a 1/8" thick 1095 high carbon steel blade and comfortable Micarta scales. Includes a ballistic nylon sheath with buckle closure.

Love it, with one exception...
Brian E.
Everything about this knife has been great with one key exception, and it's not the knife.

The blade shape gives lots of options. The somewhat thin blade for the size makes it a great slicer. The grind has been a joy to sharpen and the edge retention fantastic. The handle is comfortable with plenty of room. It's heavy enough to give you a feeling of confidence without being unwieldy.

The only complaint I have is the sheath which has a dysfunctional velcro loop for retention when the flap is off. Also, the flap requires too much meddling for constant use. That said, the MOLLE backing is a welcome addition, making it a great bigger knife to strap to the side of my pack for longer hikes, which is how I use it.
