Knife Life

Custom Balisong Wish Lists

I’m pretty careful with my money, but sometimes I can’t help fantasizing about what I would buy if  I had all the money in the world. There are countless things that I would love to buy if money wasn’t an issue, and I’m willing to bet that the same could be said for you. So, I have a question for you: if money wasn’t a factor, what butterfly knife would you want?

Let me know in the comments section below. In the meantime, here’s the butterfly I would purchase if I could afford any balisong I wanted:

Jim Burke Custom Balisong

Here is a little bit of background info on why this knife would be my top pick.

At a glance

The butterfly I would choose is a Jim Burke custom balisong knife. This butterfly knife weighs 5.51 ounces, comes to 9.75 inches long overall, and has a 4.5-inch blade. The actual handles are 5.25 inches long and are made of anodized titanium with carbon fiber scales. At first glance I wasn’t quite sure what shape this blade had. It turns out this knife has a drop point blade with a recurved profile. The blade has also been acid washed.

My insights

One of the reasons I really, really like this butterfly is that it has carbon fiber handles. I’m convinced you can put carbon fiber on anything and it will instantly be improved. Carbon fiber looks especially good on pocket knives! The carbon fiber handles make this knife look really sleek and classy. I feel like most butterfly knives have stainless steel or titanium handles, so I really like that this knife uses an atypical handle material. I mean, if you are planning on spending a lot of money on a butterfly knife, you want to find a unique one, right?

My second favorite trait of this butterfly is the handle. I really like the recurved drop point blade and the fact that it is acid washed. Somehow for me the acid wash gives the knife an artistic weathered look that I really dig. The combination of the carbon fiber handles, the recurved drop point blade, and the acid wash all add up to one balisong with lots of personality, and that’s a must in my book; I never buy anything unless I really like it because otherwise I’d just be spending money for no reason. This knife has lots of individuality that would make it worth the money. This knife also has really good, smooth action. What’s not to love?

So this is the butterfly knife I would buy if I could get any knife my heart desired. What butterfly knife would you get if money wasn’t an issue? Let me know in the comments section below!
