Camping season is unofficially, officially upon us—for those of us who aren’t crazy enough to camp in the winter, that is!
My list of gear to bring camping is pretty lengthy, as I imagine most of yours are, but one thing I never want to forget is a flashlight of some kind. Have you ever gone camping without an LED? It is a pain. It’s difficult or near impossible to find anything, and if you haven’t set up your sleeping pad and sleeping bag before the sun sets, good luck setting up in the dark. You’ll need it.
I have lots of flashlights, but lanterns are pretty great, too. A lantern is nice for setting on picnic tables, in your tent, or anywhere else you need light. We’ve used them to help us find our stuff in the dark, to help us see a card game, to light the path on the way to the restrooms—the list is ongoing. Lanterns can also be preferable to flashlights when you want to have light without having to hold onto it constantly. You’d have to carry your lantern to the bathroom, but if you need light to see your card game, you can use a lantern and set it and forget it. Think of lanterns as the crock pot of the LED world.
Here are a few lanterns from some different manufacturers to give you an idea of the variety of LED lanterns we carry at Blade HQ.
Coleman is a super popular brand when it comes to camping and the outdoors. This lantern has a maximum output of 145 lumens and can run for 40 hours on the low setting.
This lantern is neat because it’s collapsible and it doubles as a flashlight, too. It has a maximum output of 150 lumens and it can run for up to 70 hours. Closed, it measures 4.5″ x 2″ and weighs 4 ounces.
If you’re looking for convenience, look no further. This lantern clamps, pivots, and stands, so it gives you lots of options that allow you to have light without having it get in your way. This LED has a maximum output of 230 lumens, and it has a diameter of 3.3″and a length of 9″.
This UST lantern has a maximum output of 123 lumens, and it measures 5.25″ x 2.25″.
