The Paragon Apex automatic knife has solid action and lockup. It comes with a bead blast finished S30V steel blade with a plain edge. The black anodized 6061 aluminum body is smooth and sports spine jimping for great grip and feel. Black pocket clip for tip-down carry. This is a well-made knife that is made in the USA.
This knife did not start off well with me as it arrived with some excessive side to side blade play and the pivot screw stripped very easily when I tried to tighten it. However, after calling Asheville Steel and speaking to the owner (who answered his own calls and was a great guy), I sent it in and got it back less than a week later with a new pivot screw and much better lockup. As for the knife itself, it fills the hand well, the blade is well made, and it opens with authority. And while the aluminum handles are fairly slick themselves, there is great jimping on the spine to help keep my hand in place when cutting. For the price I paid on Blade HQ, I'm happy overall and tend to think I just got a bad one the first time around.
