Description

Description

This Bear & Son Butterfly 2 Pack offers a 114 model butterfly and a 114 trainer for one low cost. Practice your moves safely with the trainer before moving on to the sharp blade model. These models have gray speckled handles and satin finished blades.

The Bear & Son 114 features a tough silver vein (textured silver paint over a black base) epoxy coating over the handles. It offers a skeletonized design to reduce weight for smooth flipping action. The stainless steel blades are satin finished with a plain edge and a dull trainer blade. Single tang pin construction provides an excellent flipping platform. The Bear & Son 114 is a nice mid-range butterfly knife with made in the USA quality!

Look great, function is sub part. It would be a good entry if you're looking to get into flipping.

I'm keeping in mind this isn't going to be like a Benchmade 87 or maybe even the 60 series but a Bali should be able to flip and a blade should be able to cut.

Pros:
Knife blade was really sharp out of package.

Grinds and bevels look and match up very well on the blade.

Handles look really good and feel good in the hand.

Flip well for a cheaper balisong.

Cons:
Super oily right out of the package making them hard to flip. Both with grasping the handles and the actual movement of handle to blade. Also most a gummy feel.

Trainer handles had a really wide spacing in the open position.

Bite handle on the trainer would stick when the blade entered the handle, throwing off your momentum.

This is my first ballisong. It is sharp and smooth operating. But it feels heavy and the handle is not as comfortable as I anticipated.
I do not have the knowledge / experience to compare it to a more expensive knife.
Worth the money

It's $47.00....so it's worth it. I got this set last week and I like the knives. I'm no knife expert, but I do know that when it comes to balisong you go with benchmade, but I can't spend that kinda money to learn how to use one. This set includes a really well made trainer, and a nice, razor sharp balisong. I have put the reg. balisong away until I finish playing with this trainer for a week or 2. Both of the products are as pictured and as described. I was actually surprised at the quality and especially how sharp the blade is. If your considering learning how to flip a balisong, buy this set and get on YouTube and watch some of the training videos. I'm already pretty damn decent at flipping the damn things. Anyway, I am glad I made the purchase, no regrets here, just a couple of nice knives.
