The AFO II 9051BK-1601 has a BK1 black finished drop point style blade with a plain cutting edge. This limited edition model has a gray anodized aluminum handle with a fully reversible pocket clip.

The Benchmade AFO II automatic knife is an evolution of the 9050 AFO, one of the most practical automatic knives ever made. The improvements made to this knife are substantial. The knife is large, sturdy and built for use with an improved push button lock that is 30% stronger than the original. The AFO 2 has an over-sized firing button for easy operation, even with gloves. The 154-CM stainless steel blade deploys quickly and the 6061 T-6 aluminum body is an ideal size for a rock-solid grip and now includes a steel glass breaker tip. The open backspacer design makes cleaning and maintenance easy. The sliding safety on the back does its job flawlessly. The AFO II is a truly superior knife design in every respect.

The gray in the picture is far from the actual color. It is actually a very dark gun metal gray in a matte finish and looks stunning. Customer service from Blade HQ is top notch and really the best in the industry as far as I am concerned. Knife arrived within three days and shipped the day I purchased.

Lock up is rock solid in every direction, the stop pin is also seven sided so you can rotate it to adjust for wear down the line, each step is a few thousandths higher than the last. The safety also has extra notches machined for future wear and tear. This thing is a handful and it has been outperforming higher priced knives.

The knife has been used for wood processing and cutting zip ties and other plastic materials for home improvements. Light chopping and hacking at small pine branches and maple left zero damage to the edge, not even any micro chipping to speak of and the factory grind is very even. The edge is brought back shaving sharp with the use of a strop.

Not only do I trust it for self defense but what an amazing utility tool as well. For work in the backyard and shop or for duty and security carry I trust this more than any folder I have ever carried. Need I say more.
