The AFO II 9051BK-1601 has a BK1 black finished drop point style blade with a plain cutting edge. This limited edition model has a gray anodized aluminum handle with a fully reversible pocket clip.

The Benchmade AFO II automatic knife is an evolution of the 9050 AFO, one of the most practical automatic knives ever made. The improvements made to this knife are substantial. The knife is large, sturdy and built for use with an improved push button lock that is 30% stronger than the original. The AFO 2 has an over-sized firing button for easy operation, even with gloves. The 154-CM stainless steel blade deploys quickly and the 6061 T-6 aluminum body is an ideal size for a rock-solid grip and now includes a steel glass breaker tip. The open backspacer design makes cleaning and maintenance easy. The sliding safety on the back does its job flawlessly. The AFO II is a truly superior knife design in every respect.

excellent knife
Todd N.
I just received this knife and as the other reviews stated it is an incredibly solid knife. I have yet to use it but the build quality is nothing short of solid. the operation is fast and locks with purpose. I look forward to years of solid use and performance from this knife. As always BladeHQ shipping was top notch. As stated in other reviews the grey pictured is not what is actual finish, actual is much darker charcoal than the picture shows.
Simply put, a tried and true tool

This Benchmade is absolutely spectacular. Talk about solid. The action on this knife is one of the fastest I've seen deployed, especially for a medium size blade. There's no hesitation. The lock up is bar none. Not only do the handles have great texture and grip, but they also mold with the black blade so well. The edge is super sharp with a strong, yet unobtrusive glass breaker. You don't even realize the pocket clip against the inside of your hand while holding it. Treat yourself before these color combinations are discontinued for good.
Large and in charge!

This knife is one of the toughest autos and well made knifes I have owned. It is large but not heavy. The mechanism is like a swiss watch and locks up like the rear hatch on a Armored Personal Carrier! I would trust this knife with my life if I had to pick a knife that I feel would take a beating and not let me down. The lock up is super solid like a cleaned well lubricated bolt slapping home with an empty chamber! After a few months of LEO use I put a razor hair popping edge on it with my Wicked Edge. The black blade coating is super strong and has not shown any signs of wear. If you want a single auto that can stand up to professional work or LEO duty this is it. Caution, this is not a small knife. I have a large hand. This is not a gentleman's knife, it will scare the frost right off any snowflake with the flip of the edge and the snap of the blade lock up will melt the faint at heart and un hardened soul......
AFO II Info and review, Thanks BHQ!

The gray in the picture is far from the actual color. It is actually a very dark gun metal gray in a matte finish and looks stunning. Customer service from Blade HQ is top notch and really the best in the industry as far as I am concerned. Knife arrived within three days and shipped the day I purchased.

Lock up is rock solid in every direction, the stop pin is also seven sided so you can rotate it to adjust for wear down the line, each step is a few thousandths higher than the last. The safety also has extra notches machined for future wear and tear. This thing is a handful and it has been outperforming higher priced knives.

The knife has been used for wood processing and cutting zip ties and other plastic materials for home improvements. Light chopping and hacking at small pine branches and maple left zero damage to the edge, not even any micro chipping to speak of and the factory grind is very even. The edge is brought back shaving sharp with the use of a strop.

Not only do I trust it for self defense but what an amazing utility tool as well. For work in the backyard and shop or for duty and security carry I trust this more than any folder I have ever carried. Need I say more.
