Magnificent steel. Sharpen it once a year. The scales we're a bit to flashy for me. Swapped my GF for the scales on her 580, and it was an ounce lighter that way.
This is the first Benchmade I've ever owned, and I'm loving it! The quality of materials is amazing, and the fit-and-finish is just flawless. The steel is some of the hardest stuff, and even though it's hard to sharpen, you could just send it to Benchmade to get it back to a factory edge. I am sure enough going to buy more from Benchmade in the future! Update: I've owned this knife for a little over two months now, and It's still amazing! The steel isn't as hard to sharpen as I thought (I use an old Spyderco Tri-Angle Sharpmaker.), and with medium use, the edge could last almost a month without any edge maintenance. I'm expecting this knife to last me almost a lifetime, and I think that's what Benchmade has in mind. You will not be disappointed with this knife!
I received this knife for Christmas and it is absolutely amazing, I love the look of it, and it preforms very well. It came razor sharp out of the box. Congratulations Benchmade, please keep making knives like this.
Absolutely my favorite Assisted open FAST M390 by far my favorite Steel Keep making them like this
As soon as I pulled this Bad Boy out of the box, I knew it was going to be a tank! And it is. Even though it isn't real thin, it carries very well it the pocket. I've had it with me everyday since I received it! This knife is absolutely beautiful! It is a good size to take care of any business I may ask of it and the blade steel is so sweet. I've already put it to work, and I can tell it's going to be an heirloom. I called BladeHq and asked about a couple of options and they introduced me to this Barrage. I am so glad I took their advise.
You will love this knife, it a beauty! The blade is the sharpest iv'e ever seen. The aluminum next to the g10 looks amazing. The blade fills the hands very nicely, a small curve is left near the Axis locking mechanism, for the thumb to rest while cutting. The scales leave plenty of grip for a comfortable and secure feel. The assisted open is a little tougher then Iv'e seen in other blades, but this is good in a way for the very reason of deploying in pocket. Although there is a lock on the backside, it's not opportune to use when using knife heavily. Overall this a great blade, I am very happy with it. This is the first blade of this caliber that I have purchased. And it is worth every penny, as i needed a well built blade to last a while between sharpening and that could be around for many years to come. For those, who haven't bought a high end knife of this sort before. I highly recommend this one, not only is it U.S. made, but it is made of the highest quality. And backed by on of the best warranties I have ever seen before in any product, much less a knife. Warranty: This covers a lot, they will sharpen your blade, tighten screws, re-align blade, repair clips/springs/etc... All you have to pay is for shipping. It even covers the blade, for $30 or $40 for black blades, they will replace the blade. Pros: M390 is amazing steel The g10 and aluminum look great Axis Look is secure and reliable Lock is a nice touch Extremely durable design Assisted Opening is smooth and fast Made is the U.S. Amazing Warranty Cons: Axis Lock can stick a little (making tough to close one handed) Scales are a bit sharp near the aluminum cut outs Might be a bit heavy for some In Regards to BladeHQ: It was packaged very very well. And shipped next day. Will definitely buy from here again. Previous EDC: CRKT Ripple Experience: Mainly use knife for cutting boxes and wrap in a warehouse, as well as a few every day tasks. Coming from the Ripple to this was a large leap, that I am glad I made.
