This BlackFox Bean Gen 2 model has a stonewashed blade and a matching stonewashed stainless steel handle.
Serge Panchenko has a knack for designing fun-sized knives and the Bean Gen 2 is no exception. This BlackFox Bean folding knife offers a minimalist pocket knife design with an urban-friendly slip joint mechanism at an affordable price. The Bean Gen 2 comes outfitted with a stainless steel pocket clip for tip-up everyday carry.
Features:If you like a victorinox knife in pocket, but want something more accessible with a sheepsfootish blade that says "I just want to open this package or cut a piece of paper cause someone here stole my scissors." then this is the knife for you. It's small, but large enough. It deploys one handed. It has a pocket clip to keep it accessible.
I love the fact that Fox Knives reproduced the iconic Bean from Serge Knives at an affordable price. The compactly of this knife along with the design aesthetics is very pleasing. I believe the slip joint concept is very unique. Some people may be against such a mechanism, but with the knife being as compact as it is, it is a nice touch. Whenever the knife opens and closes, there is a strong pull when the blade goes into the fixed position. This makes the knife satisfying to open and close. The quality is very evident with the tight machine tolerances and overall construction.
Small, functional, smooth to operate. The steel could be better but for 40 bucks I cant complain. Easy to sharpen as well. I run mine without the clip. Perfect coin/watch pocket knife. If youre looking for a higher end steel try the $100 flipper version.
I bought it on an impulse but the moment I had it in hand, I figured quickly I really liked it. It’s now my new EDC knife. I’m not a big fan of the slip joint concept but the mechanical function is smooth and feels nice. The slip joint is the only reason I don’t give it a 5. Great size and weight. Reasonably sharp out of the box. I highly recommend it.
