Description
Description
The Griploc is an exciting and innovative Grant & Gavin Hawk design from Boker Plus that features their ingenious handle mechanism. The elaborate layout and design of the lever arm mechanism consists of several parts that hold the blade open as long as you hold the knife in your hand. Just release the pressure on the handle, and you can easily close the blade. In addition, the open blade can be permanently secured by a safety slider located at the end of the handle.
This model of the Griplock has a bead blast finished stainless steel blade with a flipper and black handle scales. Includes pocket clip.

I'm always on the lookout for something new and different in folding knives. When I saw the BladeHQ video for this Boker Griploc I ordered one right away.
Unexpectedly, the action of the flipper is like that of an "assisted" knife. When the blade is out 90 degrees, the spring in the linkage carries it the rest of the way. It is very smooth and works readily in any orientation. Minimal pressure on the grip locks the blade firmly in place. Take the pressure off and it closes more easily than a slip-joint folder.
The hollow-ground blade is thin behind the edge and came very sharp out of the box. With a few minutes work on the Edge Pro, it is the sharpest knife I've ever owned. It will readily cut free-hanging phone book paper.

Blade came VERY razor blade sharp. I'm not crazy about AUS8 steel but so far this blade has held its edge very well. I am pleasantly surprised.
You should own one simply because it's designed by Grant and Gavin and they are very talented!
Pick one up as soon as you can because I know, eventually, they will be gone and the Hawk family will have moved on to some other crazy lock design!
