BEST KNIFE EVER ! Bradford knives Guardian5 3V
david m.
In nearly 20 years of the US Marine Corps, I have owned or used hundreds of knives.
ALL the name brands, all the custom and every new "best" steel that has come out.
Seen them come, seen them go.

I order from BladeHQ because of the best prices and the people.
Cust service is A+++ here ( more on this later)

I will be 100% honest in this review. I do NOT get free stuff or paid by Bradford.

Often on forums, some noobs asks " what is the best all around knife,MFG,Steel and size" For outdoor stuffs.
"experts" will chime in ( w/o an answer ever) this brand for this, that brand for that, they like 1 grind for some tasks, another grind for another task.
I work for a living, I have no time for fooling with 35 diff knives.
IMHO, this is it, and I have seen them all.You have an answer.
If I could have only ONE knife for :Bushcraft, food prep, wood process, game process,Shelters ect ect, this is my pick.

(In advance) Some on forums worry about 1 gram, or exact shape of this or that.Hot spots.I have never had ANY knife be too heavy, or have hot spots or any issues.Man up,guys.
That said:
For me comfort is perfect.Grip is SECURE as you can get.Not slippery when when wet/bloody.
Hammer type grip, reverse or choked up to take backstrap off a deer ,ALL work perfect for me.
I tested every possible use for a knife of this size and design.
handle perfect
Jimping perfect
Ergos 5 /5

Steel : Thick 3V.
Heat treat is second to NONE.I have tested a few 3V knives.
All are good, this is just better retention and tougher then the rest, PERIOD.
Guys who collect and spend tens of hours on forums a day often talk about how various HT vary. Some HT are just better.
Bradford uses the best HT I have ever had the pleasure of using.
Steel 5/5

Fit and finish :
I am a function over form guy. That said, this knife is art work.
No rough edges, just perfect everything.
Brad is a master crafter with PRIDE.....and it shows.
FF 5/5

How did it work for me?
For several week I have batoned 50+ various woods. From 1 inch to nearly 5. Through tons of knots.Built 2 shelters.8 deer now, 20+ fish.Carving and many traps. Notches.Tent pegs.
Used for EVERY possible use. This one knife.Dozens and dozens of hours of use.
At 10X I have ZERO micro chips or rolls.I have not done any type of stone or sticks or any sharpen related things. ONLY leather strop each day 5 strokes. Thatís IT.
Knife still shaves arm hair.
Real world use 5/5

I have had /used hundreds of knives.I THOUGHT I knew what sharp was.I was wrong. My Guardian 5 came new, what forum guys call ( I guess) "scarey sharp"
OTB Sharpness 5/5

I will never by a knife from any other MFG again.Bradford 4 life.Brads stuff is military spec.
In the end: This knife is 230ish bucks.
Is it worth it? F YES !
I am one of those , buy the best tool once guys. Not cheepie stuff 50 times.
Also, military or LEO, your life may depend on your knife.
Preppers, this is the type of gear you want.
Bang-for-the-buck : Expensive but STILL 5/5

Side note: Was torn (like most) between a few knives by a few MFG.
When a store manager says " I carry this exact brand" That says a LOT to me.
I took a shot it!

Want to thank BladeHQ manager "Tyson". GREAT, down to earth, frendly guy.Unlike many that sell things ,he does NOT rush or talk down to you.Takes his time to make sure you are 100% happy.
He literally got a few knives in his oversized gorilla hands and described fit/finish and how each felt.
I wish all workers at all places treated you like Tyson does. So rare these days to get really good help.
OWNER of Blade HQ....give Tyson a raise. The guy is worth it.
