this is a big knife, and it is quite sturdy feeling in the hand, the weight and balance co-exist beautifully, it is definitely a heavy-duty knife. lots of people seem to be on the compact folding knife band wagon these days, but for those of you who don't want to contend with possibly malfunction and failure of a moving part and need a quality piece of steel then this knife is it. it will perform the duties of a small knife as well as a big knife, and it is a capable hunting knife. i would not whack wood with it or do any kind of brutish outdoors hulk stuff with it, but combined with an axe, you will not be left wanting
