The CIVIVI Chevalier is a button lock flipper knife perfect for everyday carry. Button lock flipper knives are notorious for being easy to use with one hand and fun to fidget with—the Chevalier is a prime example of this. It's a great mid-sized cutter with class.
The CIVIVI Chevalier comes in several colors, materials, and finishes.
I am a big Civivi fan as a casual knife collector. I enjoy having different knives for different days and purposes. And Civivi makes great knives at the most affordable price point. This knife spoke to me. I love the wood, the Damascus steel, the blade shape, the size, and the weight. So I pulled the trigger. And I am impressed with it. It looks fantastic in person and is razor-sharp. And an awesome addition to my collection. It should be a 4 or 4.5-star knife. But it has a problem. It's a button lock, not a liner lock. Which is fine. I don't have a problem with that on paper, in fact, it should be a value add. But it is unreliable and unsafe. The lock-up is great, no blade plays in either direction... when it locks up. Yeah, that's right, it doesn't always lock open (or closed). For at least once a day for the week I have had it, the knife's button will get stuck in the depressed position and the blade will be free to swing open on its own when I take it out of my pocket. OR it will be fine but not lock up immediately when I open it and I have to bang it (gently) on a table to make the lock, lock the knife. Not sure if I should take it apart and try to oil it or if Civivi just missed the mark on this knife action and I should just return it. Really disappointing but a pocket knife that doesn't lock when I need it to is just not safe.
