Description

Description

Kit Carson, designer of the M16® Series, became famous for his titanium frame M16 customs. True to Kit's custom design in all details, the production M16T models have been taken a step further with the addition of our exclusive patented* AutoLAWKS™ safety, which automatically turns the folders into virtual fixed blades when the blade is opened and locked.

The handles, which form the open-build frame, are CNC machined from 6AL4V titanium. The result is a better strength-to-weight ratio than steel or aluminum, and an almost indestructible frame. The titanium frame is minimally ceramic bead-blast finished to enhance grip. The single 420J2 stainless steel locking liner with friction grooves provides positive locking.

The blade is AUS 8 stainless steel, chosen for edge retention and durability, in non-reflective fine bead blast finish, with a Combined Razor-Sharp and Triple-Point™ Serrated edge. This steel can handle the most rugged cutting tasks and still be field sharpened.

Of course, it also features the signature "Carson Flipper" extension to the blade, which aids opening and acts as an additional blade guard.

The "Big Dog" M16®-14T is a hefty, full-size working knife with a dual grind modified Tanto-style blade.

One-hand opening and closing is quick and smooth, the result of Teflon® bearings at the blade pivot. The ambidextrous thumb stud with checkered surface provides instant access in any circumstance. It features a removable Teflon-plated stainless steel clothing/gear clip.

Faithful replicas. Premium quality. Precise. Smooth. Amazing value for those who want the ultimate M16. Kit Carson still marvels at how well our production titaniums compare to his customs.

I did a lot of looking around before I decided to buy this knife, but I'm glad I did. This knife came out of the box perfectly centered and deadly sharp. I've carried it almost every day since getting it and it's never let me down. Over time the pivot screw came like a quarter rotation loose but this is an easy fix due to the simple flat head pivot screw(no fancy microtech tools required). I was able to get it properly snugged up with coin in about 0.2 seconds. The serrations are very sharp and will saw wood very easily. At first I was not a fan of the AUTO-LAWKS systems but after an afternoon of playing with it, I could close it with one just as fast as any folder. (It's also just great to see people struggle with the knife when they want to close it but can't figure out how)
but, its not American made?

I bought my first Colunbia River 10 years ago and love the knives and thus one is no exception. Heavy solid beefy smooth tight opening and extremely strong. Ive never broken the tip of a tanto blade yet on these knives and have misused them in a manner that could break them. Worth every penny paid and maybe even 3 times as much. The only thing I dont like is the fact that it was made offshore, hats off to Blade HQ for putting ALL the info in their descriptions, very complete and seems to be very accurate. I am slightly disappointed that its not manufactured in the States but not disappointed enough to stop carrying CRKT products as long as the qualty remains extremely high. I dont think the quality of this knife can be beaten for the price. Oh, and the blade holds an edge quite well. That may seem like an afterthough, and it is because you really dont have to think about it too often.
