Some gravitate away from the accepted standard of design. Such is the case with the Deviation, a CRKT collaboration with Terry Renner. It's an angular folder with a futuristic presence. Beyond its design, the Deviation is an excellent knife with an IKBS ball-bearing pivot and flipper opener. The modified tanto style blade is two-tone mirror/satin finished and the stainless steel handle sports blue titanium nitride finished accents.
Cut my pinky on it at work and my coworker asked where he could buy the knife at. Very beautiful knife as well.
I thought it was interesting. Bought 1 and I was Totally Impressed! Tried to order more for Xmas gifts - notice of discontinued! Now its back! Get it, you will say "Very COOL"!!!
Looks SOOO much better than the pictures do. Smooth open and close. The titanium nitride accents look really nice, and I love the ball bearing pivot. For the cost, this is a killer deal!!!!
this is a hunkus of a knifecus excuse my languifunkis but this knife is wongelefunkes
Opened or closed, this knife is a work of art. For the price this is an awesome deal and everyone should have one in their collection.
Very well designed. It has a futuristic appeal to it. The flip open action was a little stiff at first, would not open all the way, but after a little use, about 50 openings, it smoothed out and flips open with ease. The bearing hinge helps a great deal. High quality steel. The blade is easily honed to a razor edge. The blade geometry and shape is unique. A Tanto taken to the next level. I highly recommend getting one for any collection.
This is probably the best looking knife I have. The two-tone finish on the blade looks great, the handles are surprisingly comfortable for how angular they look. It's just an overall great EDC.
Very Nice Knife. Blade flips open and closes very smoothly. The pics on website don't compare to what a beauty this knife is. The different finishes on the blade makes it really stand out. I bought for edc but think ill put it in my collection of unused knives.
5 stars Fit and finish are great. A weighty, well made machine. Blade looks even better in person. Flipper deployment is buttery. Closing is smooth. Blade drops like a WE. Showy but functional. Clip could protrude less.
This arrived yesterday, and It has an eye catching look. Bit stiff on opening (By no means hard to open) I expect it to loosen up a bit after use. For now, when I use the flipper along with a quick wrist flick, the blade snaps open and the liner lock engages solidly. I would have given this a perfect score except I discovered that just about every edge on the handle (including the flipper) were sharp, as if it wasn't properly de-burred. fortunately I have a carbide micro-file set. carefully working on all the sharp corners, I was succesful at filing a break-edge on on the sharp surfaces without damaging the knife....took me about an hour to get all the sharp edges removed. If it had come without any sharp edges, I would have given a "5" rating.
The good: Blade came shaving sharp from the factory with no blemishes in the blade. Still got my personal touch, but great to see that. Overall finish is beautiful, I couldn't find any defects in the machining. Liner lock is rock solid with no vertical or horizontal movement. Deep pocket tip up reversible clip sticks about 1/8" out from the edge of the frame so its nice and hidden in your pocket. The bad: Some of the machined edges were sharp, a quick rub of fine sandpaper to break the edge fixed this with no damage to finish. But for those without mechanical ability, this could be a big issue. Very stiff opening. The blade has a detent that a dimple on the liner lock sits in when closed, nice for safety but it does make it a bit of a pain to open. Pivot screws were over torqued, took me much more force than it should have to loosen them a hair to aid opening. Blade point was not as sharp as I expected out of the box. This was fixed during my sharpening, but would have liked to see it come fully sharp and pointed, ready to go. Summary: this quickly became one of my favorite knives. Not only is it a beautiful piece of machining, It feels great in the hand, I appreciate the finger guard for big jobs and finger groove (choil?) right behind the blade for fine work. The blade stays pretty sharp with normal use and thus fara quick strop has returned it to shaving sharp.
Love Blade HQ got this cus of the markdown and look…. Super heavy clunky knife with a sharp grip
Looks great, and cool flipper, but that is where the good ends stops. Knife came dull, have tried every technique I know to sharpen, but will not hold an edge. Very happy with Blade HQ first real fail after many great knives.
