No edge because...
Paul M.
The design, micarta handle, sheath are really good. A solid feel for a small knife and the handle is full and capable... not one of those thin jobs. The micarta is not polished and the grip is excellent. The knife fits tight and I noticed the edges of the micarta handle toward the guard were large and sharp so I sanded them down a bit... knife slides in and out much easier and the sheath broke in just fine. The flat grind does not thin out enough toward the edge which is quite obtuse. I would guess 30 degrees each side. It just doesn't cut. Luckily I can fix it easily on my diamond stone but a knife should come with a proper grind and edge. Can't comment on the 420hc until I fix the edge.
Ergos and Sheath Awesome, blade material sucks.
Keith B.
Knife Ergos and design are awesome with Mayflower having so much dang potential. The leather sheath is exceptional as well. Unfortunately the steel / edge profile sucks, spent an hour trying to get blade sharp to no avail. A bushcraft knife needs to be sharp, this things fails in this area big time. It can cut paper, but won't keep edge and takes for ever to sharpen. Shame, as I hide high hopes for this Condor Mayflower. Will be buying Bark River Aurora Mini instead foe shore.
