Drawing on his experience in dozens of dangerous environments and harsh field conditions, Robert Young Pelton developed the H.E.S.T. (Hostile Environment Survival Tool) to be a reliable everyday carry fixed blade for operators and adventurers alike.

The DPx HEST Original fixed blade is manufactured in the United States by Rowen. It features an “over-built” blade crafted from high carbon 1095 steel, hardened to a 57-58 Rockwell hardness. Every aspect of the DPx HEST has been thoroughly thought out, from its balance, lashing points, thumb control, wire breaker and even the ability to remove the hollow Micarta handles using its brass screws for use as a neck knife.

This model has an OD green coated 1095 steel blade with a plain cutting edge and a canvas Micarta handle. Includes a Kydex sheath, cord and lock.

I'm shocked by how right this feels in hand. It's sharp and hard as can be. I prefer this to my similar ESSE and TOPS knives in the same size and price range. ESSE and TOPS both make incredible knives, DPX definitely deserves more respect. This knife leaves nothing to be desired. The pry pick at the end of the handle is even surprisingly useful, just be very careful using it - should always leave the sheath on the bladed end to avoid any injury
One solid knife

I lost this knife mushroom hunting in the fall, in the southern Oregon mountains. I went back the next fall and found it. Very little rust, a tiny bit on the logo and a little on the blade. Buffed it off oiled it up and its like new again. Seriously one year in the rain, snow, sun, and dirt and you would never know. what a solid knife! DPx hest is one awesome tool. Made for hard use. Made for life. As long as you don't lose it. Lol... I highly recommend
