Description

Description

The 1670PURBDZ Blur features a stonewashed CTS-BDZ1 steel Tanto blade with a plain edge and a purple anodized aluminum handle with Trac-Tek inserts for superior gripping power in all conditions. Black reversible pocket clip for tip-up or down carry.

The Kershaw Blur is a favorite among knife enthusiasts. The Blur has the build and performance of a great general purpose knife with everyday carry friendly attributes as well. The Ken Onion designed Blur is an assisted opening knife, just give the blade a push with the ambidextrous thumb-stud and the Speed Safe technology finishes opening the blade! To close, just slide the liner lock to release the blade.

BladeHQ - As always, service was incredible.

The Short:
The knife is absolutely brilliant. The design is phenomenal and very welcome in this world of boring old titanium frame-lock flippers. Solid working manís knife. Buy it before theyíre sold out forever!

The Long:

Blade: The steel here is BDZ-1, which from all the reading I've done should be a touch better than 14C28N, which I think is a great steel for its ease of sharpening and maintainability. The blade grind AND the edge grind are 99.99% perfect out of the box. Straight and even, save for the last 1/32 inch of the top tanto tip edge is just SLIGHTLY angled deeper. You wouldn't know without looking for it in specific light conditions. Be aware this is a very nice flat edge with zero recurve, making it an absolute breeze to sharpen.

Scales: The aluminum scales are a really lovely shade of purple that I don't find too bright nor too dim. They somehow got it perfect and I can't quite explain it. Photos don't quite capture it either.

Lock: Liner-lock engages early(but not too early) and there is zero vertical or horizontal blade play.

Grip: On the frame, what would appear to be skateboard griptape/sandpaper, is actually a sort of textured rubberized tape that is easy on jeans and khakis. This surface also holds up well, a co-worker has a Blur which has been carried daily for 3 years, and the grip feels the same as my brand new one.

Operation: The SpeedSafe assist is just right and you can even open the knife with gloves on(leather gloves, not snow gloves). Pocket clip is super slim resulting in zero hotspots. There is a little jimping above the stop pin thatís not too soft nor aggressive in my opinion.

Summary: I should have bought one years ago! From what I can tell, Ken Onion/Kershaw set out to build a "decent" working man's knife. Fortunately for everyone, they created something so close to perfection, it's difficult to review objectively!

This knife blew me away I know everyone talks about how solid the Blur is but at this discounted price it really canít be beat. The blade takes a beyond hair popping edge with that BDZ1. The purple of the scales is quite nice and the action is impeccable. Value was so good I was tempted to pick up a second.
Worth every penny

Purchased for use on a family farm. It is very easy to handle with gloves on and has held up well through all types of weather. My Mom has claimed this one and that is fine as it is a knife that begs to be used, not stowed away in my collection. She's put it through a lot, there are a few chips in the edge that I need to grind out and it still cuts nicely. Amazing ergos. Great slicer.

Everyone knows about the Blur, yet it may get unfairly overlooked with all of today's options.
