Description

Description

Kizer Cutlery, in collaboration with knife maker Matt Cucchiara, present the Flashbang. This production version of Matt's custom Flashbang flipper has exceptional fit and finish. Its contoured titanium handle is satin finished and features Matt's large skull profile, anodized. The matching pocket clip is machined titanium to complement the sleek style of the knife and the tumbled S35VN stainless steel blade flies open on a ball-bearing pivot at the push of the flipper. Overall, this is truly a superb folder.

I bought this knife several months ago (forgot to review it until now), and I liked it so much I've since purchased three more Cucchiarra designs from Kizer.

Like all or almost all of Cucchiarra's knives, this one has a slightly recurved blade, and though the angle might not look like too much, or have any use besides styling, it actually helps to to bite into the medium on a cut, creating a deeper slice with little extra effort.

The other outstanding feature of this knife is the blade deployment and detent. Kizer"s bearing system is a every bit as good as Zero Tolerance's (and I own about a half-dozen of each, so I have a lot of samples to compare). The blade stays tightly shut until the flipper is pressed, then it flies out.

Some people might be turned off by the rainbow skull, but the juxtaposition between "rainbow" and "skull" make it look sort of ironically cool. This is the knife that started my now fairly large knife collection.
