The Kizer Kane folding knife is the Vanguard version of Matt Degnan's popular custom knife model. Kizer has translated the design in impressive fashion and used materials that are both durable and affordable. The handle consists of black G-10 scales and polished steel bolsters. This gives an elegant collectible appearance to the knife while providing a smooth, comfortable grip. Experience a custom design at an affordable price point, with the Kizer Kane. This version of the Kane comes with a VG-10 steel blade in a stonewash finish.
Bought it to try out VG-10 and a flipper... all around solid knife. Decent steel, handle has a unique/classic look to it, find myself loving the blade shape. Mix between clip point and harpoon point with the ramp up on the spine. Two drawbacks: Action could be smoother and the linerlock can pinch against the metal part of the frame when closing the knife. The action doesn't bother me at the price point, but the linerlock/metal frame are perfectly flush when lock is open which is nice from an aesthetic side, but can pinch skin between the gap. Could be user error, but I haven't had the issue on other folders. That said, I still give it 5 stars because I was surprised how much I like this knife.
I had my eye on this knife pretty much since it was released and finally decided to spring on it when I heard it was discontinued. I'm glad I did, fit and finish are good and the blade has a nice edge put on from the factory. The action is getting better after a few days of flipping, and seems to do better with a "push button" style of deployment. Only knocks I can give is that the lock bar is sharp and the knife came with grit inside from the manufacturing process I guess. Both are easily remedied though
I love this knife. My main issue with it is the weight, I do not mind carrying a heavy knife, but some do.
