The Matt Degnan designed Roach knife is an exciting Kizer model that's made its way to their Vanguard lineup. It has a wide spear point style VG-10 stainless steel blade with a gray titanium coating. The handle is contoured black G-10 with a blue G-10 backspacer and a stainless steel liner lock frame. The pocket clip is oriented for tip-up carry and marked with a Roach logo.

One of the best vanguard

This blade has style in spades. the spear point/drop point blade is beautiful with a simple grind. The handle is uniquely contoured, while not flowing from the blade the handle seems to mesh well with the blade.

The roach I received needed about 200 flips to break in. Many more to feel as slick as this blade is capable without disassembling it. The lockup is 30-35% and is stiff and sharp. My finger was beat up a bit from flipping the blade. The detent is medium and I was unable to gravity-deploy the blade. My roach came sharp and centered.

The handle is asking for a certain type of hand then also a certain type of grip. The contour towards the back of the handle will either be a blessing, a curse, or a work-around. The clip is not designed well and can catch or scratch whatever it may come in contact with.

Despite all the flaws there is something about this knife that I really enjoy. In fact when funds get better I'll buy the black/black one. If you have large hands are bigger I can't recommend it. If you have medium hands this is probably the best knife under $90.00.

Like always fast shipping, this is my 4th Kizer I love there knifes. This one is bigger than the pictures let on. The knife feels not as refined as others with same or similar build materials but is way cheaper so I guess that's the off set. I would recommend this knife and company any day.
