It seems in the knife community that everyone has an axe to grind about one thing or another. Whether it's a business selling something, an enthusiast who just wants their favorite knife in their favorite steel, a sweaty forum fighter who read an article and is now an expert, or whatever, objective information is hard to come by.
Luckily for us, objective information is here! Dr. Larrin Thomas, writer of KnifeSteelNerds.com, is probably the most educated metallurgist who writes on the subject of steel and its processing, cutting performance, geometry, and all kinds of other subjects we knife folks study. Knife Engineering: Steel, Heat Treating, and Geometry is a 442-page tome that goes over the purely scientific testing of everything that makes a knife cut.
