Description

Description

The "187" series of folders, named for the 3/16" stock used throughout, is Medford's lower price-point offering for those who want more than one Medford knife. If you are saving for the penultimate custom MKT blade or holding out for the Praetorian Ti, then we have something to tide you over. For the rest of us (who want to remain married) this series gets you a hand-made American knife, with rugged uniqueness that is truly American...every blade is absolutely unique. To maintain this amazing price-point, there are no customizable options.

The 187DP is a drop point juggernaut in the 187 series. The size of this knife is just perfect for guys with big hands and nearly any job that could benefit from a knife. If you like full-sized folders with very little weight the 187 series delivers. This blade design is awesome for general utility cutting tasks and the tip and forward belly are ideal for skinning or infinite cutting tasks.

The knife features a coyote brown G-10 handle, tumbled titanium frame lock and a D2 steel blade with unique Vulcan finish. No two blade finishes will be the same and it will vary from the one pictured. Some are dark, some are light and some are multi-colored.

I like everything about this knife except for two things:

1. The vulcan blade finish, the one I received is not vulcan. I know every vulcan looks different but mine is 0% vulcan looks like a normal satin finish. I even asked for a multicolored one in the notes section of my order and was let way down after spending $425.

2. The price, I know it's American design handmade in America but materials used are titanium, g10 and D2 which is pretty common these days and i would say $150 MSRP max.

this knife is amazing, the other review is less then truthful, this knife is amazing, amazing fit and finish along with unmatched tolerances, super smooth, super sharp, and in my opinion on the level with Chris Reeves if not better and to which I have many

This is an awesome knife. Yes, you do have to "break them in", but it is worth the wait. You get a knife that is over built and yet simple mechanics. Simple mechanics lead to less things to break and wear out. This knife is made for hard working use and not for box opening and mail opening. I highly recommend this knife to the working man. You will not find a better built knife for that price. -Jason

From a distance it looks great, But it lacks refinement big time, A tiny bit would go a long way. Way to sticky, they say you have to "break them in" But after about 1000 cycles open and closed sitting there watching TV, it got no better I was done. Plus every edge on the knife was a sharp edge, Just felt rough in the hand. Robust yes. But a unfinished knife IMO. If ZT built it, it would be a home run.. On the flip side BLADE HQ is awesome to deal with. I have bought many knives from them and will continue to do so for many years to come. Great Business!!
