The "187" series of folders, named for the 3/16" stock used throughout, is Medford's lower price-point offering for those who want more than one Medford knife. If you are saving for the penultimate custom MKT blade or holding out for the Praetorian Ti, then we have something to tide you over. For the rest of us (who want to remain married) this series gets you a hand-made American knife, with rugged uniqueness that is truly American...every blade is absolutely unique. To maintain this amazing price-point, there are no customizable options.

Medford's 187DP is a drop point juggernaut in the 187 series. The size of this knife is just perfect for guys with big hands and nearly any job that could benefit from a knife. If you like full-sized folders with very little weight the 187 series delivers. This blade design is awesome for general utility cutting tasks and the tip and forward belly are ideal for skinning or infinite cutting tasks.

The knife features a black G-10 handle, tumbled titanium frame lock and a D2 steel blade with unique Vulcan finish. No two blade finishes will be the same and it will vary from the one pictured. Some are dark, some are light and some are multi-colored.

What do you get for the price? Cheap quality?
Patrick A.
I was thinking why is the 187 only $425? Cheap materials? Lower quality standards? The answer is absolutely not. This knife is a piece of quality craftsmanship. Its big, stout, and the lock is up is vault like. It is a thick knife but carries great. Functional pocket clip and the action is SMOOTH.

I highly recommend checking out not just BHQ's videos but also Greg Medford's videos. There are lots of great nuggets of info within his videos.

If you dont own an MKT you need to give it a shot. You wont be sorry. MKT customer service is outstanding. Thanks to BHQ for stocking such a great line of product.

Don't let price scare you, this is worth it

I own a Strider SMF, a Hinderer Xm-18, and a sebenza. The titanium on this is thicker than all. There definitely is a "break in" period, but 10 years down the line, it'll probably only be 35%-50% in. As a comparison, I carried my Xm-18 for 7 years, everyday, and the locking arm is touching the opposite scale now.

The lockup is no BS.There is NO play what-so-ever, in any direction. The blade is perfectly centered. The factory edge is polished to a mirror finish. Not many makers do that. Well not for around $400 anyways.

This not a small knife though, so be warned. it'll still fit perfectly in the back or front pocket, but it is heavy, you won't forget it's there.
