The "187" series of folders, named for the 3/16" stock used throughout, is Medford's lower price-point offering for those who want more than one Medford knife. If you are saving for the penultimate custom MKT blade or holding out for the Praetorian Ti, then we have something to tide you over. For the rest of us (who want to remain married) this series gets you a hand-made American knife, with rugged uniqueness that is truly American...every blade is absolutely unique. To maintain this amazing price-point, there are no customizable options.

The 187F is the smallest folder Medford offers, and the single flipper model of the 187 Series. The Ramp Nose style blade is absolutely functional and looks mean. In addition to quick blade opening, the flipper acts as an effective guard, assuring your hand doesn't slip toward dangerous territory. This model offers a man a compact knife, with as much blade as possible, crammed into the tidy package. When carrying a real knife is a must, but size, weight and space are a concern, the 187F has no equal.

The knife features a coyote G-10 handle, tumbled titanium frame lock and a D2 steel blade with unique Vulcan finish. No two blade finishes will be the same and it will vary from the one pictured. Some are dark, some are light and some are multi-colored.

Top 3" Flipper

Solid, hardy, flipper, that carries easily. The stout D2 blade cuts better than most gentleman's style knives. Great EDC!

P.S. The pocket clip rests on the frame, not the lock bar (finally a manufacturer that understands)!!!
Could be an Awesome Knife

If only they made the pocket clip usable. It will chew through jeans or it won't even clip if they are thick. It's a shame.
The knife is put together well, centering is perfect, lock-up is early.
With a useable pocket clip it would be excellent.
This is my first mid-tech knife.

I can see and feel the difference from my other folders. It locks up tighter with amazing timing. All the points hit upon opening and closing. This is NOT a pure flipper. A bit of a flick of the wrist is needed to open the knife. One handed opening is easily achieved. I work in shipping and the blade glides through cardboard and plastic banding. The tip is good for grabbing splinters that I get from pallets. I would have given this 5 stars, but I didn't feel qualified. FYI- Although I haven't needed it, Medford does offer sharpening.
