The "187" series of folders, named for the 3/16" stock used throughout, is Medford's lower price-point offering for those who want more than one Medford knife. If you are saving for the penultimate custom MKT blade or holding out for the Praetorian Ti, then we have something to tide you over. For the rest of us (who want to remain married) this series gets you a hand-made American knife, with rugged uniqueness that is truly American...every blade is absolutely unique. To maintain this amazing price-point, there are no customizable options.

The 187RMP is the smallest folder Medford offers, but still a substantial tool compared to other knives. The Ramp Nose style blade is absolutely functional and looks mean. The dual sub-hilt composition of the handle and blade offer superb grip comfort for all uses. This model offers a man a compact knife, with as much blade as possible, crammed into the tidy package. When carrying a real knife is a must, but size, weight and space are a concern, the 187 RMP has no equal.

The knife features a coyote G-10 handle, tumbled titanium frame lock and a D2 steel blade with a gray PVD coating.

Great Starter Medford

While I was a little hesitant at first as this was my first Medford Knife and Tool purchase, it has been thee best knife purchase I have ever made. $425 may scare you at first, but it is well worth it. Excellent build quality, stout and firm in the hand, good weight to it, reminds you that your actually carrying a knife in your pocket, and without a doubt the best lockup out of any knife in my collection. It is built like a tank. This knife has absolutely NO blade play whatsoever. In my opinion, better lockup than my Sebenza, which I'm sure some will definitely criticize. But hey, the day I received this knife in the mail, I was so blown away with the quality of the design, ergos, lockup, and build quality in general I purchased a Praetorian Genesis not three hours later. I can't say that about ANY other knife or manufacturer. You have to understand going in what your buying though. This isn't some light weight, gentlemans folder, or some crazy sharp slicer, even thought it does slice very well. This is a hard use, no frills, built like a tank, purpose built knife and foremost, tool. You know your carrying a knife when it's in your pocket. Built in American with American labor, American design and innovation and manufacturing, what's not to love. I can say that there will not be a day that I do not have a Medford in my pocket.
