The Microtech D.O.C. Flipper is a manual action folder from Microtech that harnesses the design genius of Anthony Marfione and Mick Strider. It features a black anodized 6061-T6 aluminum handle with traction inserts. The blade is a spear point style with unique bevels that put more steel at the tip. This knife opens using the flipper and feels comfortable in grip with an index choil below and jimping up top. The blade is marked with the serial number and date.

This model features a stonewash finished blade with a plain edge. The hardware and pocket clip are bead blast finished.

The pocket clip is a downer and worth 2 stars.

This is a very well made tactical knife with pluses and minuses:

Pluses: quality, blade shape, no blade play, secure opening and lock up, one of the sharpest out of the box, renowned designers and unique tactical design.

Minuses: "Death on Contact" is a bad name. That pocket clip is inexplicable. If you grasp the handle firmly with your index finger on or below the choil as expected, the pocket clip reminds you it's there - every time. Best to remove the pocket clip with optional small bit for proprietary (custom) screws if you're planning on taking it camping. Or grasp the handle near the butt and add a lanyard. Or keep it as a collectible.

Fast forward 2017. Medford Praetorian is a beefier blade that feels SO good in hand. I decided to ressurect this DOC and remove the clip, and employed the medium tri- angle socket and stripped it. BHQ suggested hair dryer to loosen glue without success. The clip is such a negative on a gorgeous folder with unique design and best tactical point I ordered another socket, and BHQ sold at a nice discount. When new socket arrives, will start with hair dryer and update status. Thank you!
