This special edition Black Widow Tachyon III has a matte black coated handle and blade with vibrant red detailing.

The latest generation of the Tachyon butterfly knife, the production Microtech Tachyon III, distinguishes itself from previous models with milled, single-piece channel construction handles, a spring latch, and a standard pocket clip. The blade showcases a non-sharpened swedge-ground tip and milled grooves with the Microtech logo, production date, and blade steel markings up front.

What would a brilliant design be without that smooth action you crave? The Tachyon III exceeds all expectations with an advanced ceramic ball-bearing pivot assembly that eliminates handle play and produces first-class flipping dynamics. The pivots utilize Viton o-rings for load dampening, and heat treated stainless steel retainer plates ensure long-lasting performance.

Awesome knife
Skipper B.
I am a huge fan of microtech knives, I have several of their OTF knives including a halo V and this tachyon 3 is right up there in quality. It's super smooth, scary sharp and the blade is sexy. I'm not a seasoned flipper, I know the basics and I'm practicing everyday and I have to say this knife definitely flips well. The sound is euphoric when it clicks and clacks, rollovers are a breeze and just feels great in my hands. I do recommend putting of loctite (loctite 262 threadlocker) in the handle screws, my screws loosened up a little after flipping it awhile but since the loctite it's been solid. The only issue I have is the tang pin did come out a little, I have heard of this issue in the production tachyon 3's. My solution to this issue was to pull the pin out completely and put loctite 262 on it and reinsert, let it sit overnight, so far it's been pretty great. I dont have anything else bad I can say about this knife, I mean it's a microtech, they make amazing knives. It's no alpha beast or replicant (which I'm searching for both to add to my collection) but it is high quality in my opinion. I have been using a benchmade 239 for many years now and the weight difference coupled with fluidity of movement with the tech 3 just blew my mind. Anyway it's a great knife, if you have the money and want one, just do it, you wont be disappointed. Have a great day.
