The 12" Baton SWBAT12B from Smith & Wesson is a compact size, just 4-3/8" when closed! It features all steel construction with pocket clip and includes a sheath for carrying in hand; ideal for runners, walkers & hikers.
So I bought this thinking it would be a novelty item. I figured I would use it as a pointer or some sort of a fidget gadget. Boy was I wrong. When I first got it, I was disappointed. I thought this thing is too big for a toy. The longer I have had it, the more I see what a cool piece of equipment this is. While at work, I carry my issued baton, but while off duty, this has become part of my EDC carry. I like having options for self-defense while I am off duty as well.
Great baton, slightly off-center but overall great lightweight EDC item!
I bought one black and one pink for my fiancé. I'm pretty new to buying batons, but to me the Taylor brand makes great products! This baton is no exception.feels solid extended or collapsed, my fiancé has no problem deploying or collapsing hers. Definitely happy with my purchase!
The baton is specifically designed for concealed carry for self-defense. It is still very sturdy but light to carry on a hike, daily commute, etc.
This is most compact baton you can have. So if you do not want to look like a security guard when you date your wife or girl-friends, that quite good! It's well made and get in and out well. No need to bang it on a wall. The neoprene handle is the minus 1 star. Useless and not realy well made.
I bought this as a present for my wife for Christmas for when she walks the dog in the park so it is still in the package until them (I put it in a tactical stocking I also bought for her LOL). So until we actually practice with it a few times not sure how good it is but will check back then. I does appear to be a good self defense option to a stun gun, etc.
Well… I decided to practice with this on a heavy punching bag, having never held a baton. After 3 hard whacks, the thing came apart. I guess you have to be gentle with these things but man… This is my first baton and man… you could do some serious damage with this thing. Very compact (can hide it in my hand) and when you slam it down, you’ve got a heavy steel club in your hand. It takes a lot of juice to open it but that’s exactly what I wanted. Not some flimsy thing that pops open accidentally. Also, you really need to hit it on something hard to close it. Again, exactly what I wanted.
