Filip De Leeuw is a talented Belgian knife maker who makes traditional non-locking folding knives with new, modern materials. Spyderco’s new Friction Folder is based on one of De Leeuw’s most popular designs. It features a flat-ground VG-10 stainless steel blade with an integral lever that extends from the tang. Pressure on the lever rotates the blade into the open position where it rests against the stop pin. Gripping the contoured G-10 handle holds the lever firmly in place and stabilizes it during cutting chores. The Friction Folder includes an open-top leather pouch with a pocket clip.

melts into my hand
Rando T.
well, guys. as a long time fan of Spyderco knives i´m not an admirerer of friction folders at all. this type of knives look cool but they are obviously ancient. you don´t take a 200 mile long trip by horse cab nowadays, people use cars for that mostly.

i´ve even sold couple of nice original higonokamis, because i didn´t like the action and roughness.

but, one day i needed a knife that would be legal in most western European countries and decided to give a try to De Leeuw Friction folder.

using and carrying this "beast" has completely changed my opinion about inconvenience of non-locking or hand-pressure-locking knives. Spyderco has made De Leeuw right just once again.

well known knife brand´s only friction folder (yet) does nicely all the cutting jobs in areas where locking knives are prohibited. it makes you a bunch of new friends if you use it in public - everybody wonder what the heck this is.

it has been pleasure to experience De Leuuw Friction Folder, just a very nice high quality knife what melts into your hand.
Nice knife

I got this knife at blade 2K18 show for only $50. Its my first friction folder, but it continues to impress me. Great conversation starter. However, I wouldn't spend $100 on it. That's only because I see very minor improvements though. But keep in mind its my first friction folder so they could not be relevant. But anyway if you can get a good deal like me 10 out of 10.

Nice addition to my knife collection. Friction folders are cool. Love conversation pieces. Definitely top five in my side collection of friction folders. Thanks Blade hq.
