The Karahawk is an evolved folding version of the Southeast Asian karambit. Its VG-10 steel hawkbill blade is outfitted with Emerson's patented Wave Opening Feature along with a thumb hole, so opening is simple and fast. The black G-10 handle has stainless steel liners and a strong back lock mechanism. The Karahawk has a reversible tip-up carry pocket clip. The handle features a ring at the back end to facilitate traditional karambit manipulation techniques and is sized to keep the knife compact and easy to carry.
It would have been nice if there is a sprint run of this awesome knife with different steel other than VG-10. Seki is falling behind in their offering and a little pricey for what they offer. I put off buying this knife hoping for a Golden made and/or different steel. This is a very good knife with fast opening. It is thin enough to carry completely inside your pocket or clipped to your pocket depending on preference. You won’t be disappointed in this great defensive counter-strike tool with intuitive design that fits great in your hand. BladeHQ is great as usual.
It's too bad Spyderco had discontinued this model. It really is one of the best folding karambits out there. It's thinner than I expected because it's a lockback instead of a liner like many folding karambits. The fit and finish is, as expected, very good. The wave feature works as good as, if not better than any other folding karambits I've handled (Fox and Emerson). Fits in my hand very nicely. Karambits are great, but are only really good at one thing and not very practical or versatile as an EDC blade. Better as a secondary defensive carry and not as your primary blade from my experience. But if karambits are your thing I would urge you to pick one of these up before they are all gone.
This is a great knife that gets a lot of wear time! It’s thin which makes it easy to fit in your pocket and still able to get around it for keys. It wicked sharp. Excellent addition to the collection!
It is a very good buy. It is also wicked sharp. This is not a fidgeting around item. It has a specific purpose and it does it extremely well. Yeees,, I did &*#"" cut myself. Luckily no stitches.,just crazy glued it. I ain't got time to bleed.
I have the all black Karahawk. You can't deploy any other knife as fast and as defensively ready than this knife. It's small enough to get into your defensive workspace in less than a second.
I've always wanted to own a Karambit and this is the one I selected, for it's thin, flat and lightweight design. I really like the Emerson Wave design and practiced with it. It works smoothly opening the blade right out of the pocket. One of my goals is to learn the karambit as it does make a good self defense weapon in its own right!
I Love this knife! the wave Works Very will For a factory Wave. I Do Filipino Kali, Libre Fighting Systems, Brazilian Jujitsu and Wing Chung, and this knife is a very concealable and effective "Tool". i tested it on Pig skin and it Glides through it with ease. Over all this is A very well made Tool.
Spyderco is no stranger to success, but this karambit truly shows their knowledgeable strengths in knife making. The wave feature borrowed from Ernest Emerson is what sends this knife from 100 to 110 percent. Not only is this knife reasonably priced for what you're receiving, it's excellently built by all standards. Highly recommend, do buy!
