This thing is a beast! Rock solid even without liners. Blade lockup is the strongest Iíve seen/handled on any knife, and the SNAP it makes lets you know it means business. Steel-reinforced, threaded clip mounts at all four corners are a big plus as well. Incredibly sharp out of the box. Warning: this knife is substantially thick/wide. Tip down carry is easiest to deploy, but requires substantial pocket real estate that prevents my (XL) hand from entering my pocket. Not an issue with tip up carry, as the handle is nicely tapered and smooth on the spine. Great service and quick shipping from Blade HQ!

Solid and thick. Makes a loud click clanging noise when opening. Sure to scare away any burglars.

I've had my Manix Back Lock for about a month now and I still love it. It corrects the few things that I didn't like about my regular Manix 2. First, I prefer tip-down carry with jeans. The regular Manix has jimping everywhere, which is good for gripping the knife, but it doesn't help with sliding the knife into your pocket, especially since it has to go large-end first. I've found that the Back Lock carries much easier, with its smoother G10, less jimping, and tip down carry, even though it's significantly thicker. I like the thick G10 handles with no liners. The knife is lighter, even though it feels more heavy duty. It fits my big hand perfectly. Open handles have their advantages for cleaning, but closed handles seem to collect pocket lint less, in my experience. The thicker blade should take more abuse. This is the loudest and most solid-feeling lock I've tried. I'm used to back locks having a little up and down play. I can't feel any play in this blade at all. The fit and finish are perfect. The ball bearing lock works great, until you cut, scrape, or smash your index finger or your thumb and then closing the knife becomes a two-handed operation. The back lock closes easily, even if you have band-aids on your fingers. I've read a few stories of issues with springs and polymer cages on the ball bearing lock. You can't make a lock much simpler or more reliable than a back lock. Overall, it's amazingly solid, functional and well finished knife. If you want a knife that you can flick open and closed in a fraction of a second, this isn't it.

This knife is a beast. Thick blade, very solid lock up. Razor sharp out of the box. G-10 is smoother than other Spyderco knives but I actually like it better. Another great Spyderco knife.
