Description

Description

This Spyderco Sprint Run MANIX 2 knife features a textured carbon fiber handle and a CPM-154/S90V composite steel blade.

The Manix 2 features Spyderco's Ball Bearing Lock, which operates around a free-floating ball bearing contained inside a custom polymer cage. The ball bearing's round shape allows the lock to self-adjust across a large surface ensuring smooth and consistent lock-up every time it is engaged. The Ball Bearing Lock is engineered to be self contained meaning there is no need for internal liners to support it, allowing the folder to be manufactured liner-free and extraordinarily light weight.

I wasn't sure for a while about pulling the trigger on this awesome piece. What intrigued me was the blade material. I've had knives made with CPM154 and S90V steels and enjoyed both of them for what they were worth, but to have both of my all time favorite steels fused together was very intriguing to me, so I gave it a shot, plus its a SPRINT run so why the heck not?! The main deciding factor about purchasing this knife was definitely the price, it's +$100 over some of the other Manix models, but the fact that it's a limited Sprint run made it worth it to me. My personal preference points to the direction of "usable collectors" so I went for it.

So far, I've been using this knife across a wide application of tasks from cutting ropes, opening boxes, camping, house hold chores and if need be, emergency situations and I'm confident that this knife can endure a whole lot more. I just need to get past the "babying phase" because it is a handsome piece. This is also my first knife with a ball bearing lock and I think I like it so far. The ergonomics of the Carbon Fiber Peel Ply are comfortable, grippy and secure and the action of opening it is smooth as silk. I really enjoy adding the Manix 2 to my EDC rotation.

If funds allow, I'll get a second one as a safe queen!
