Customer Reviews

My second ZT
Richard B. on Sep 5, 2019

Really nice knife. Kind of stiff out of the box, but breaks in nicely with use. I will add that it was sharp as hell, right out of the box! I really like ZT knives, but they’re spendy, so I usually wait until they go on sale before I pull the trigger on them. BHQ is great to do business with, and I won’t be getting my pocket jewelry anywhere else, anytime soon. Thanks folks at BHQ!

This is my first ZT knife. I purchased it due to the low sales price. Built like a tank, perfect blade centering, rock solid lock-up, and a razor sharp edge right out of the box ! And the assisted flipper is outstanding. I assume all ZT knives are of this quality and this may be my first but it won't be my last

I picked up one for myself and one as a gift for a family member. A well made knife that is very pleasing to hold in the hand. This is as big as I personally like to carry but the knife pockets well, making it a good candidate for an EC knife. Service from Blade HQ is top notch. Knives were shipped to me without delay and arrived well protected in their packaging. Oh, and USA!

ZT Hinderer 0566CF
Dr. D. on Jul 30, 2019

I've wanted a ZT for a while now, and when I saw the discounted price on this soon to be discontinued knife I jumped on it. I'm so glad I did. First of all, this is one of the sharpest out of the box knives I've owned. I love CPM-S35VN that the blade comes in. The carbon fiber on one side and stainless frame lock on the other is attractive and feels good in my hand. I have no problems flipping it open with the flipper (nice crisp action...fun to fidget with). The frame lock is tight, but I can close it with one hand. I'm very impressed with my new Hinderer 0566CF ZT. I'll buy more ZT in the future. :)

Razor sharp, beautiful craftsmanship, quality materials, it’s a little tight but that is expected. Nice price for a carbon fiber with S35VN blade.

Fantastic knife, especially on the discounted price
William S. on Jul 22, 2019

I've had this knife for about a week, but it is a fantastic knife. Came razor sharp out of box, and the blade was perfectly centered. Although the action was fairly stiff, it has broken in quite nicely. My only gripe about the knife is the fact that the frame lock is a little sharp, but nothing that I can't handle. Overall its been a great knife for the time I have had it, and has been able to complete any task that is needed of it in my landscaping job. I definitely recommend buying one while it is still in stock.

Perfect EDC!

Built like a tank, love it!

Very well built knife . Like the weight feels good in my hand. Things were tight at first but after a few days of carrying it functions got easier . Blade HQ fast delivery and good price.

Great first ZT
Jonathan C. on Nov 2, 2018

I got this beautiful knife a few years ago for Christmas from my brother in law and have used it every day since. It has absolutely been through the ringer to say the least, and has held up and preformed beautifully. I would highly recommend this knife to anyone looking for a good tool as it stays sharp and is not difficult to keep sharp/sharpen. if it got lost or something happened I would not hesitate to purchase another. Thanks BladeHQ!!

Favorite Daily Carry Do All knife
Eric E. on Jan 6, 2018

I purchased this over a year ago, and it is my favorite EDC knife, with M390 steel. It is the perfect balance of solid, and easy carry. After lots of use the Carbon Fiber still looks great, and blade holds a great edge, and is still perfectly centered. Deep carry clip is nice to have straight from the mfg. If I lost mine I would go buy another straight away, and would have no issue recommending this to a friend. Near perfect knife for my needs, from opening a box, to a week of camping. This goes with me.

Amazing knife, great steel
Trevor R. on Jan 5, 2018

The 0566CF was the first ZT I purchased after owning the Kershaw Cryo also designed by Rick Hinderer. The knife has great ergonomics and feels natural doing any cut. The spring assisted flipper makes the blade fire out very fast and is easy to use one handed. The thumb disk is very hard to use but I always use the flipper so this is not an issue for me. The lock up is insane. ZERO blade play in any direction and the lock bar is exactly halfway across the back of the blade. The blade came centered and razor sharp from the factory. The Elmax steel can be sharpened to the best edge of any steel I own, including my previous favorite Benchmade's S30V, and holds the edge longer too. Sharpening is fairly easy. The carbon fiber looks great but doesn't go completely to the edge of the liner near where the thumb stud meets the liner when open, minor detail but some people care about appearance. The knife in the picture also is shaped like this so I imagine it is the same with all of them. This knife isn't as big as most ZTs but fits in my hand with room to spare, size large gloves. Would highly recommend to anyone who wants a very strong knife to carry everyday!

Great knife with a stiff frame lock
patrick g. on Sep 5, 2019

First ZT, so I'm not sure if all of them are like this, but the frame lock is on the stiff side. Otherwise it is a great knife, super happy with it.

My First ZT
Chris C. on Jul 31, 2019

I've been looking at ZT for quite sometime and I love the Hinderer design. You can feel the quality of the knife and fit and finish are astounding. The assisted open feature is a little stiff but overall I really enjoy the knife. My only reason for 4 stars has to do with the pocket clip. In the standard position the clip adds additional tension to the frame lock making it difficult to actuate. I thought I'd be clever and try to loosen the clip tension slightly and the clip snapped in half. No worries though. ZT support shipped a replacement clip at no cost to me. I'm glad they stand behind their product.

A fantastic low cost Hinderer design
Tom S. on Jul 25, 2019

I normally don't award 5 stars but this met all my criteria. I'm not sure why this knife has been discontinued because it's a tremendous value for a ZT, let alone a Hinderer design. Some guys complained that it won't flip with the lock studs like my Hinderers do and I agree. My questions is, with the AO, why would you? With all its features I don't know how it flew under my radar until now, so I jumped on it since it won't be around much longer. I'm very happy I did. Update It just figures it would go on sale a couple weeks after I bought mine.

Smoking deal at the closeout price!
Mike P. on Jul 21, 2019

Knife came razor sharp out of the box with perfect blade centering. The action was a little stiff out of the box but breaks in a little after so use. I backed off the pivot just a hair and that seemed to help. Still, I find the thumb stud pretty hard to use. The knife is built like a tank and the ergos are perfect for my hands with great jumping in just the right spot. Lock up is excellent. It is clear this in built to be a hard use knife. I really like it, but am going to knock it a star for the stiff action.

Serious, Solid EDC
Richard G. on Jul 18, 2019

Great buy at closeout price. Knife came a with hair shaving edge and blade centered perfectly. Vault-like lockup and no blade play whatsoever. Beautiful carbon fiber slab and well executed jimping on blade and handle. Great ergonomics for my medium sized hand. Really like the deep carry clip, though tight going into pocket. Thin enough to carry well, but weight is noticeable in the pocket. Opening and closing were stiff out of the box. Overall, a beautiful, well designed knife.

Excellent ZT Quality as expected
Blaine M. on Jul 17, 2019

The 0566 arrived in a timely fashion as is usually the case with Blade HQ. I like the looks and how the knife feels in hand. Less bulky than the ZT 0350. The action and lock up do not feel as solid as the 0350. The knife came out of the box extremely sharp, as expected. After researching and reading reviews on the 0566, I guess I’m a bit of a novice, but I feel this is an excellent value. Especially at the sale price. It loses one star for me when compared to my 0350 and my Les George ZT 0909. I really like the manual flipper on the 0909. That is not to say that the assisted opening is bad. Manual is just my preference. I saw a YouTube review comparing this knife to a Kershaw Cryo 2. The conclusion was the Cryo 2 was a “better buy for the money.” I disagree. Price comparison aside, my Cryo 2 is not in the same ball park. I say buy the 0566cf while it is on sale and still available.

i have been carrying it for alittle over a week and i am loving it. ZT built and sale price= must have. For my EDC it was a win.

An OK knife at the sale price
Gary D. on Aug 30, 2019

This is a good buy on sale. My chief complaints are the clip and the stiff action. Installed on the back for tip down carry, the clip presses on the lock, making an already stiff knife nearly impossible to open and very difficult to close. I've moved it to the CF side until a Pops Custom clip arrives. Even with the clip moved , it is impossible (for me anyway) to open the knife with the tumbstud one-handed. As my first ZT, I'd have to say it is rather disappointing.I have several US made Kershaws I like more at half the price.

ZT 0566cf
Bobby D. on Jul 26, 2019

I like the appearance, the weight, and the size of the knife. My problem is the knife is so difficult to open. Most of the time I have to use my thumb, not my index finger. Then when trying to unlock the titanium frame lock I end up tearing and gouging the corner of my thumb nail. I don't mean to sound like a sissy or cry baby about my nails but several other knives I purchased at the same time do not have this problem and leave my thumb sore down into the quick. It is a very attractive knife however I have tried to loosen the tension screw on the very end of the knife but it has to be loosened so much the entire knife is loose and feels like it is going to fall apart. For now I have loosened it a little applied some Blade HQ's lubrication to see if that helps. It would be a shame for this attractive knife to end up a shelf ornament.

Almost...
John M. on Jul 17, 2019

I love this knife. It locks quickly and tight. The blade is excellent and the flipper opens easily. The thumb studs are not usable for me. A very poor design for an otherwise nice knife.

Almost . . . Again
Don K. on Jul 22, 2019

The ZT 0566CF knife came razor sharp out of the box with perfect blade centering. Perfect blade length, great steel, I Like the weight & it feels good in my hand and carries nicely in my pocket. Beautiful carbon fiber, and good overall appearance The assisted opening spring is much too stiff & the flipper is difficult to grip - it needs some checkering or sharp gimping on the flipper. Due to poor ergonomics and the too stiff opening spring, the thumb studs are useless. The frame lock is extremely difficult to disengage one-handed & I had to use two hands to close the very strong frame-lock. A very poor design for an otherwise nice knife; I returned it

I wanted to like it, really.
David A. on Jul 16, 2019

I wish I had done more research before purchasing the ZT0566CF. The production quality is good but the design is poor. The flipper with assisted opening is too stiff. Due to poor ergonomics, the thumb studs are useless & the frame lock is very difficult to disengage one-handed. Furthermore, the knife is about 2oz. too heavy for its size. In my opinion, a Skyline is a better Kershaw design for edc & a Spyderco Native is a better knife for hard use. This ZT won't see any use with me & I think I know why the 0566 was discontinued.

Disappointed
BOBBY R. on Jul 13, 2019

Received this knife on time from Blade HQ and was impressed with the looks of the knife at first. I collect folding knives and own seven other ZT’s and have been happy with their quality overall. But, this knife has been disappointing. First, the blade came off centered. Even after hours of loosening the pivot and frame screws, using a business card to wedge over the blade . . . I have not been successful getting this blade perfectly centered. Also, the lock bar is tight making it hard to release and close the blade. I may give up and send it back to ZT and see if they can make it right, but this knife is not the quality of my seven previously purchased ZT’s.
