Blade HQ Coupon Codes – Your New Best Friend

I know, I know, you came for knives, but this is important! Hear me out. 

A Brief History of Blade HQ Coupon Codes 

Blade HQ has had a box at checkout for promo codes, coupon codes, or whatever you want to call them for a good long while now. In their most traditional form, they apply a discount to your order at checkout, but they do a few other cool things too. We’ve used them as entries for giveaways, like in 2019 when we gave away a mini motorcycle. We’ve also used them for promotional items free with orders over a certain threshold, like the CIVIVI Scintilla we’ve done a few times now.  

Strangely enough, however, we haven’t used them for actual discounts very much (although that is changing, hence this article).  

The Problem 

Admit it, you’ve googled "[fill in merchant] coupon codes," clicked the first result, copied and pasted the juciest one, and tried to score a deal. But have you ever noticed how often that code doesn’t work? 

Here’s why: There are websites whose sole purpose is to provide you with codes that may or may not work so they can score a cheap commission. 

Through a complicated system of backdoor "sub-affiliates" and their subsequent links, these coupon sites serve you a code that doesn’t work with an affiliate link, so that YOU get no discount at all, and Blade HQ pays a commission to the "affiliate," and the coupon site makes off with unearned money.  

Do you get it? Cool, me neither. The water is really murky here. But it’s a real problem, and we’re trying to fix it. To be clear, we LOVE real affiliates, and are more than happy to pay their commissions. Looking at you, Metal Complex, Gideon’s Tactical, Dutch Bushcraft Knives, etc.! Y’all are the best! 

And, for your edification, this is a problem for more than just Blade HQ. If you’re using these coupon code sites, you may or may not be saving money, and you might be allowing the site to take a commission they did not earn. Lame! If you want the best coupon codes for your favorite merchant, just follow them on social media to get the latest info straight from the horse’s mouth.

TL;DR: Affiliate marketing is complicated, and some coupon sites use loopholes and links to earn commission with little to no effort.

On the Blade HQ back end, we can see all codes entered into the promo code box. Occasionally we see people using actual Blade HQ coupon codes, but most of the time, it’s nonsense. Lines like "SAVE15" or "25BACK" are NEVER used in our promotions. We applaud your effort, and we wish we could offer you such a thing, but alas…
