Butch Valotton has performed yet another great design on the Timberline Signature series! Very fast spring assisted knife. Great action, solid lock-up. Black G-10 handles, AUS-8 black finished blade (partially serrated). Black pocket clip (tip down). Opens via the thumb stud, right or left handed. This is the MEDIUM version (to the left you can see a comparison between the large and medium versions).
It is a good value in that smaller knife category, if the spring tension were adjustable or toned down, it'd go up a star. I like the knife overall, can still get a 3 finger grip on it, the shape/form is what I want in that size and it comes in a good steel. This little guy came very tight, I loosened up the pivot screw because it beat up my thumb flipping it so many times hoping it'd loosen up. The spring is very tense so it is hard to open and close. It's hard on the thumbs between the thumb studs and the liner lock jimping, even with callouses playing with it left me sore. The knife actually opens with enough force it wants to jump out of your hand and if you're unfortunate enough to hit yourself with the blade opening it, it really really hurts. It still manages to be controllable, I like the size but that spring really dominates the experience. Left handed opening is harder since there's less room to get under the thumb stud with the pocket clip being raised where your thumb would be on it for opening. Bought as a gift for my mom but definitely not appropriate for her because of these things. It'll end up in my truck/car/toolbag instead.
difficult to open and close. not assist open. nice blade
Spring makes it way too hard to open or to close. Ergonomics are not very great either. Really the only thing it has going for it is that it looks cool. I would not recommend this knife, I will likely just throw it away.
