Cold Steel's Safe Maker series was designed by Lynn C. Thompson and represents of the finest push knives in the world. The Safemaker's blade, shaft and T shaped tang are all drop forged from one piece of AUS-8 stainless steel. The high satin finished blade deserves an equally well-made grip, hence the use of Kraton, a shock absorbing and comfortable surface. The Safe Maker knife comes with a sturdy Secure-Ex boot/belt sheath with clip and steel bead chain lanyard.
Unbelievable construction!!! Great knife. It’s a little smaller than I thought it was going to be but that’s not a bad thing. Highly recommend this nice!!
1 - The blade is sharp out of the box. I know that this should be the case every time but I always check (an indicator to me that the place I bought it from cares about what they sell). 2 - The knife sticks at first so you need to pull it out a few times to break it in. 3 - I have it strapped to my backpack on the shoulder strap my near where my dominant hand rests and the knife works well. Great buy for the price!
well its sharp. i found that out because i cut the crap out of my thumb trying to get it out of the sheath. it was in there very tight. after i got my thumb to stop bleeding i sanded the inside tabs that hold the blade in the sheath down so retention is still good but i can actually draw the knife and the sheath wont come off with it. anyways it feels very well built. be careful!
Received knife in a couple days, nice quality for reasonable price. I would like to see the sheath have an adjustable clip for various carry options. Very satisfied though.
I bought it for personal defense when I was working a dangerous security job. Easy to conceal, but it's a very aggressive thing to carry which can lead to other issues. I found it was wiser to carry a reliable folder as a backup instead. It's a great knife, very high quality, it just screams "premeditated" for urban carry. Now I keep it on a backpack strap for camping or hiking as an emergency backup.
The blade comes sharp and has a sturdy build. A decent secondary option for those who carry. Easily concealable on your weak/support side(or any side, for that matter) Two things I would prefer: -i would like a more rugged belt clip with the option to change carry positions. -i would like a grip that fills the hand better, in order to keep the blade from shifting on impact.
Evidently they measure the entire tang & call it a blade? This thing is tiny in the hand as well at only 2 ³/⁸ across the full length. Blade is nothing resembling sharp and cut on one side only. "Steel beaded necklace" is weak. The sheath is of the cheapest plastic one can imagine for any item and does not fit to properly sheath or withdraw. Shameful advertising and product Cold Steel.
