The 4300 CLA Composite Lite Auto is a quick-deployment automatic knife that is sized for everyday carry comfort while providing the performance professionals expect from a Benchmade Black Class knife. The CLA has a contoured black G-10 handle that is both lightweight and strong. A reversible, deep carry pocket clip offers increased discreetness and a proper fit. This model, the 4300, has a plain edge, satin finished modified drop point blade with push button operation and a front-mounted safety switch.
This is my 1st Benchmade and I love it. High quality steel blade, light and durable grip. Well made, extremely sharp out of the box. Opening is quick and forceful. Blade does not wiggle at all. Highly recommend this knife!
I have been sitting on the fence for awhile thinking about this knife. I own a bunch of auto's, Protech, Microtech, Kershaw, Piranha, Spyderco and although I love my Benchmade folder/flippers I just did not expect this CLA to be that great. It was not cheap either. Now that I have it I can't put it down. It had a little vertical play but I was able to adjust that out and it's fine now. This knife is definitely near the top of my auto collection. Good job Benchmade.
Michigan just legalized auto knives and I decided to spend a little more for the quality of a Benchmade. Love It! Awesome knife, serious performance and amazing feel, fit and finish! Highly recommend!
Not an avid collector but have enjoyed collecting older pocket knives or lower priced models when I've seen them while travelling. Decided to step up and purchase this knife after reading reviews to see what next level knives are really like. Very cool to hold this in your hand and see and feel the craftsmanship that went into making it. Not sure I'd pay hundreds more for some of the other models on this site but this knife is right in my budget/quality wheelhouse
This knife is a great all around knife.
I've owned many benchmade knives over the years and still do. I am a heavy researcher and know what I want. The CLA is clearly my new favorite. It is perfectly sized, balanced, and it opens strong. The G10 handle is exceptional just like my Volli. The CLA is rock solid and ready to work. Another fine product by fine craftsmen.
Very impressed with the quality and the attention to detail on this knife. It's light but tough. This is my second benchmade, the other automated knife I received when I was with the Police Dept. about 20yrs ago. It still works just like the day I got it. The people at Blade HQ, are very helpful and the lady I talked with went out of her way to make sure I got the knives I wanted. (more knives are on the way).
I've owned a lot of knives automatic and assisted opening. When I first got this knife I thought it felt cheap because it was so light. I was very wrong. I own a farm and carrying a knife is an essential tool to carry. This knife has held up as well as any knife I've ever owned. I would suggest to anyone looking at it to buy it.
Great knife and great service will definitely buy again
this is a great knife. it lighter than most auto fits in your hand good when open. comes real sharp. i worked in a place where i use a knife a lot and i use it ever day. it is just great. everone wants to use it
I’ve been carrying this for a few months now and I feel comfortable rating it and the Microtech LUDT as the top two autos on the market. What puts the CLA above the LUDT, in my opinion, is the lack of proprietary hardware. Anyone with a torx set can open this bad boy up and give it the spa day it deserves. The centering on mine was dead perfect with no play. It has an incredibly strong action, good steel (made better by Benchmade’s heat treat), and can somehow still be closed easily with one hand. My only request would be for Benchmade to make a mini version with a 2.9-3” blade.
I have quite a few benchmades and others but this knife is a notch above. It's fast, well made and very light. The blade is the perfect size for pocket carry and it's extremely easy to sharpen and it holds an edge very well. Very strong.
Hands down(or up) this is one of the best knives I've owned. And that's owning several benchmade and other arachnids. Would recommend to anyone that asks
Snappy action very thin and light knife for the size. Wish they would upgrade the steel so I could buy another with 20cv steel instead of the outdated 154 steel. Other than than that no issues. Been a regular user for about 2 years
I have several Benchmade knives and love them all. Recently bought this one and sent it back. I do not like the location of the safety. I would prefer it be on the spine like in other fully auto BM knives. With this model the safety switch is actually higher than the open/ release button. Why is it there? I don’t want to feel the safety when I’m trying to fire the blade. Also, the safety does not move smoothly. I would love this knife without the safety (really don’t want the safety on any knife). Other than that it’s a sweet package like most BM’s.
Benchmade makes amazing knives, and I know they put a lot of time into their creations. I really wanted to love this knife. I think the slim lines, light weight, and powerful auto snap make it exceptional. My complaint with this knife is in the handle. Maybe my hand is too small or too large, but when open my thumb wants to rest on top of the handle where it meets the blade. This is not normally an issue but there is a lump right there so I need to either move my thumb forward onto the blade, or backward onto the handle, but not where I would naturally sit. I am hoping that benchmade continues their line of Composite Lite Auto's, and maybe another handle design will work better for me. So again, great knife, but maybe not great for all hand sizes.
