Well made but I learned I don't like tool steel
James H.
The Benchmade Boost 590 is nice looking IMO. It looks like a working knife, not some tactical something or another. It is lightweight and very, very strong. That makes it excellent for an EDC for me. It is a large folder and the assist is snappy but not snap out of your hand snappy. Terrific work knife if you don't mind working with a knife in this price range.
The tool steel is very hard and very had to sharpen. It doesn't come razor sharp out of the box and it takes a lot of work to get a razor edge on mine. The edge doesn't last as long as I think it should. I knew I was buying tool steel, so I'm not complaining but rather just sharing my learning experience.
The blade gets marked up quite easily and it is dangled hart to get and keep shiny and clean. It feels really great in my hand and I carry it every day.
Comfortable and useable

It helps me to compare knives to cars. This is an E-class Mercedes... fast, comfortable, large, luxurious, and clean. The ergonomics and textures make this knife truly stand out. When you add to that -excellent steel and craftsmanship- you get a Boost.

Could one buy a Bentley or Bugatti? Sure. But I prefer an every-day-driver.
Solid EDC blade with one small flaw.

I am basically in agreement with the other reviewers about the overall quality and value of this knife. Good materials, ergonomics, and value for the money. The only reason I canít give mine 5 stars is that the Axis lock sometimes tends to be a bit sticky requiring a little extra effort to pull down the lock release when closing the blade and that also results in an audible popping sound when the lock bar comes free. However, while annoying, itís not a particularly big deal considering the positives of the knife.

Got this knife for Christmas and I don't think I've ever loved a knife more. The grip on the handle is so nice. This is just a flawless knife. I'm not typically a fan of drop point blades but this one looks great. Super fast and super smooth when opening the knife. Couldn't have been given a better knife.
Great edc

I am usually not a huge fan of assisted knives. But this knife felt so good in my hand that i bought one. This knife is extremely comfortable in my hand. The S30V steel is hard to beat. It takes a razor edge and holds it for a long time. This is a great knife that won't break the bank.
I absolutely love this knife

I have a para 2 and a griptilian, but I usually carry this. I love the blade shape, the handle is comfortable and looks good, the steel is CPM-S30V, can't go wrong. Left hand friendly, and overall the whole thing just looks so good.

Edit: I have de-assisted my 590 and I must say, I love it even more now. Flicks open like a dream, and falls closed when I pull back the lockbar.
