Description:

Warren Osborne designed the Benchmade 940 Osborne a popular knife for good reason. It's a comfortable everyday carry knife with its slim design, great ergonomics and lightweight. The 940BK has an S30V steel blade with a plain edge and a BK black finish. The 6061-T6 aluminum handle is anodized green with 410 stainless steel liners and a purple titanium spacer on the handle back with custom ridges. The AXIS lock and reversible pocket clip make the knife usable for right and left handers.

Epic EDC
Matt J. on Sep 22, 2020

This knife feels solid, like it's milled out of a solid chunk of aluminum, but still light at the same time. The blade shape is amazing, with a nice stout tip. Centering is not perfect but pretty close. This is the new MVP of my small but growing collection.

This is a classic
Santino D. on Mar 4, 2019

This knife is perfect. The slim profile fits perfect in the pocket. The aluminum scales are very durable and not susceptible to scratching like I was worried about. If you love Benchmade, you have to own a 940

Best benchmade I have owned
Neil W. on Jan 3, 2019

I literally can’t put to words how much I live this knife. I just got it yesterday from a sporting goods store who is a Benchmade knives dealer. I went in to look for a Benchmade Infedel something like it when I spotted my little jewel, I have always wanted to get one in green and they luckily had one in green with an S30v blade steel. I own other Benchmades like the mini grip, the freek and the 531 pardue but by far this it the sharpest and smoothest out of them all. I would recommend it to anyone who is a collector.

Exceptional

Literally zero complaints except i wish they offered an XL version for those of us with bear paw like hands. Love it.

Finally got my hands on one
Matt A. on Jan 11, 2018

After years of this knife sitting at my #1 must get spot, I got the 940 as a Christmas gift this year. I have had my eye on this knife since day one of collecting and even thought it took a few years to get one the wait was well worth it. If you are thinking about getting the benchmade 940... DO IT

Own the 940-1701
Tae S. on Jan 7, 2018

Own the 940-1701 with 20cv steel, which is similar to this 940. If you're contemplating on getting a 940 -- pull the trigger! Awesome, sleek EDC that comes very sharp out of the box, and of course you get the life-time bench made warranty along with it! Do it.

I understand the hype
Austin C. on Jan 5, 2018

This knife stands up to the hype. I don't have a very big collection but this knife immediately made me understand why it's so popular and why Benchmade is a legendary company. The size and shape is perfect for EDC as long as the price tag doesn't scare you. Thumb tab deployment is quick and silky smooth, requires little effort. The Axis lock on this is what BM is known for, its easy to use always and always works with out much though, no need to watch your finger with a liner lock or use two hands like a lot of other locks. It can even be deployed by giving it a quick snap of the wrist while the Axis lock is pulled down. The build quality is perfect, not over engineered in anyway, it is made exactly how it needs to be, all the seems are perfectly aligned and the clip is just right, will never fall out of a pocket. As far the blade goes it's sharp enough to split hairs and possibly atoms. the purple anodized backspacer is quit subtle and really accents the dark green outer. My only dislike I have is the finish on the handle, it kind of feels like a fine grit sandpaper, I suppose that could help with grit but it just feels strange. It does seem to lessen as it gets used however.

Are you a collector?
Paul L. on Jan 5, 2018

If so, the 940 is a must have. Mine has been through hell and back. If I could only have one knife for the rest of my life, it would be the 940. It splits the line between tactical, EDC, and classic. It’s perfect in my opinion. It’s a knife you can pass down to your grandchildren.
