Benchmade makes terrific knives (duh) but many wonder if some of their offerings are overpriced. This one is not. It's worth every penny. Cross between a Bugout (great EDC) and North Fork (great hunting folder). Fine ergonomics. It's a lot of everything good about Benchmade for the money.
I will tell anyone considering getting this knife to just put your money down and buy one. Im really impressed with this knife. Has a grippy feel to it which is a new feel for an old knife guy. Kind of rubbery feel which makes this baby easy to hold and to work with. Secondly, it is easy to find when you put it down. Just look around for that blaze orange glint around the room you are working in, and within a second or two, you got er back in your hand. Lets get to the blade. Just wait till you see that beefy piece of steel. Its unreal actually. Its not wimpy. One other thing, the AXIS lock really is COOL! So easy to operate. Just pull down with your thumb and forefinger , and flip your wrist and out flings that blade FAST! Same thing for getting it safely back into the casing. Just pull down and flip your wrist a bit and that blade goes flipping right back into its handle. Just get one and see for yourself. It WILL become your everyday carry no questions about it. It is damn nice. A real keeper.
I bought this wanting to use it for work in a construction company and it has worked perfect. After using it every day for 2 weeks it is still sharp. I am very happy with my purchase and will definitely be buying another Benchmade Knife!
This is my first high end knife and I;m never going back to a cheaper knife. I live in a humid environment and this knife has not even started to show and type of rust after 1 year. The ergos are great and stays in my pocket with no problem. Benchmade is now my favorite knife brand.
Excellent knife! By profession, I am trauma/ER physician but also a hunter and outdoorsman. Somehow I always measure the sharpness with a scalpel. It is not only just sharp but very sturdy, attractive, well built, and well-balanced knife. I prefer it over "Grizzly Creek" because I like to have my gut knife separate but it is a matter of preference. The only thing that I wanted to have some more color choices in the handle material. For example the combination of black and orange, etc.
I have had this knife for about 10 months now and it has been one of my go to knives ever since I first got it! The grip and lock in on the knife is amazing, and it will not go anywhere in your hand. I don't mind the recurve on the blade and I think it helps with the cutting power. The jimping is great, and you should just buy one already! You will not regret it.
I like the grippy handle to keep knife in the pocket and lesson the chances of it slipping out. I am in a Bobcat half the day so it’s important to me. A big factor in my decision to buy this was the Versaflex handle. The Versaflex material is reminiscent of a cell phone case like the Otter Box. At the same time the material will hold the soil if you have dirty hands. Feels solid in the hand. And at the same time does not feel cheap like some polymer knives do. The orange accents add bling and help in spotting it on my desk or if I were to drop it. At a tad over four inches closed it fits in the pocket and the weight is a non factor. Hardly notice it’s there. Almost seems like magic the way the handle fits the hefty S30V blade. The craftsmanship is really outstanding, this thing is spot on everywhere. It’s impressive. I had Blade HQ engrave it for me and that too was perfect. I would recommend this to a friend.
I could literally hold this knife all day long and the blade will hold an edge for a long time. I have the bugout and this will hold an edge 3 times longer with the same steel. As stated below it is smooth as butter. For fit in your hand feel you can find none better. My only complaint is that it grips the pocket to well. I would prefer a smother handle, but in doing so you just may loose the great feel of this knife. It does deserve a place in everyone's collection though.
Bought this on a whim. Its smooth as butter, you'd swear its an automatic. Fantastic steel, sharp, easy to sharpen, holds an edge, strong (ive chipped ice w mine) The grip is very grippy, sometimes sticks in pocket but not too bad. The recurve is also bitve a pain to sharpen, but again not too bad. If you're on the fence about this one go for it. You wont regret it
100% my favorite Benchmade for 3 reasons. #1. Absolutely perfect blade to handle ratio on weight, heft, length, for a guy with big hands this is the best Benchmade folder for your hands. #2. That grip!! I'm not sure what the rubbery material is on the handles, but man, it slides in and out of the pocket easy but also provides a firm and true grip on the handle like no other. #3. That amazing price. One of the cheaper Benchmades, and my favorite. Cant ask for more than that. Only complaint is there isn't more colors available so I can buy more of these!! Thanks BladeHQ
This knife is the best blade for the money. It has a really smooth action and the blade is centered. The drop point with slight recurve is amazing. This is one i will definitely keep, i ordered a second one a day later to give too my best friend. I want a fixed blade with this same blade profile in cpm154 benchmade..
This is the smoothest benchmade I have owned (or used) right out of the box. Only a few problems. Some of the rubber on one of the scales flaked off within the first week of owning it, benchmade said they would replace the scale but I would have to send it in and I didn’t want to wait for it in the mail... It may have just been my knife, but I had a very hard time fine tuning the pivot screw to get rid of all of the blade play, while maintaining the action that it came with out of the box. Locktight helped, but it seems like I’m not going to be able to get both a lack of blade play, and a great action. I can’t recommend this knife for edc (I know it was not designed for edc). It’s definitely a hunting knife. It’s too big to realistically carry around. The rubberized scales make it difficult to slide in and out of the pocket, and the stock is too thick for edc tasks.
Scales peeled off twice in 2 years.
