This 15016-2 Hidden Canyon Hunter fixed blade knife has a Dymondwood® handle and comes with a pressure-fitted leather sheath.
This knife packs a ton of utility/versatility/durability into a very small package. 2.67” isn’t huge, but it works for every task I’ve attempted so far. Wood grips are nice and grippy, jimping on the spine for both strong and fine grips is perfectly executed. Brutally sharp out of the box. Seriously, the sharpener guy at Benchmade was on his game when my knife came to him. Still haven’t had to do more than touch up the edge and it’s been 2 months of daily use, s30v is no joke. My son (20) just picked it up and put it on without asking. He does that often with this knife. 5 stars.
I still carry this knife every day great feel
iv had this knife for about a month now and i always keep it on my waste. I dont even notice it where i carry it (on my belt above my right pocket). As for the knife its self it was a little smaller than i thought it would be but it turned out to be something that grew on me. I love everything about this knife and as for the sheath mine fits perfect. No play at all once you button the sheath the knife isnt going anywhere.
The blade is excellent, I thought I would hate the composite wood but it exceeded my expectations. The grind on the blade was ever so slightly uneven but that is typical of Benchmade knives for some reason. Not a huge issue, a little work on the stone and leather strop would fix it. The sheath is a typical low-quality leather sheath. Poor stitching, bad gluing, unfinished, unburnished edges and it sags quite a bit. I will be making a new leather sheath. This is my favorite knife to carry. I have not gone hunting with this knife as the season has not yet started.
Got this as a gift was super surprised . Love the scout carry sheath. Never owned a fixed blade I take it with me on mountain hikes along with my crooked river. After receiving this kinda went knife crazy, picked up the crooked river and the arcane. I do own some Kershaw knives, but I gots the Benchmade fever. Looking forward to the mini crooked river!
I spent a lot of time looking for this knife. When I found it, I knew I’d buy one. The blade shape, overall size, choil and gimping make this the perfect hunting knife for me. Great steel, great grind, fits perfect in my hand. My only complaint is the ridges on the spine... it was hard to clean out after cleaning my deer last fall.
I've only had this knife for a week, so haven't put it through heavy paces, but my initial impressions are absolutely extraordinary. The ergonomics of the handle are something to be praised. There is no way you can hold this that isn't extremely comfortable. The jimping by the tip, and the handle are fantastic for different control points, and make fine detail work she secure. The size is perfect for EDC, I've got it on my belt now and just forgot it was there. The stonewash finish on the blade is really sharp as well. This is just an amazing knife. I couldn't be happier.
Worth every Penny. Small skinning knife, but with s30v steel and the handles, its worth it. This knife will never slip out of your hand, and comes with benchmade's warranty.
Feels good in your hand, well designed, and looks good. Really good jimping. Only thing I am not huge on is the sheath, kind of sags on the belt.
This is a great little knife but the sheath fits terribly. The knife looks good and feels great in the hand. The blade has a very sharp edge and the jimping adds great control. The sheath however fits poorly and is splitting on the bottom seam because of it. The blade actually cuts into the spacer. Benchmade sent me a second sheath that actually fits even worse and can't be snapped shut. I love the scout carry though.
This knife come sharp! I've had other knives also made out of s30v that don't get as sharp as this blade. Edge retention is great and it fits perfectly in hand. I can hold it in multiple positions and each way feels natural so after skinning for awhile my hand won't be as tired. The sheath is a horizontal sheath though. It feels weird to carry that way and catches my shirt. I'm gonna have a new one made
I’ve been wanting to buy a Benchmade for a couple of months now, but haven’t been quite ready to jump into the price range of most of their items. Since this one went on sale, I jumped on it and received this knife a few days ago I’m not using it to hunt or whittle or anything super manly. I’m trying it out as an EDC general use fixed blade. It’s the first fixed blade I’ve bought for this purpose, and while it’s not quite as practical as a pocket flipper, I’ve fallen in love with it anyway. The size is great for regular carry. The blade came sharp, and the shape is good for general use. The diamond wood scales look amazing, but they are also molded in such a way that they’re very pleasant to hold ergonomically. In my medium-sized hand, I can grip it several different ways, and it’s always comfortable. The complaint I’ve seen here and there is that the sheath isn’t great. It looks good, but I think it could be better. I kind of wish the belt loop had a snap like the holster strap does. Also, some of the metal at the back of the choil protrudes out of the back of the sheath. It won’t cut you, but it makes the fit feel less precise than I’d expect. I’ll keep the sheath for now, and decide in the future whether it’s worth replacing. Overall, I love this knife to death. I wish I had more things to cut with it. I’m kind of sad it’s being discontinued. I hope they make a V2 of this, maybe with a refined sheath.
The knife is great. Handles well, sharp out of the box, holds an edge well and looks great too. Too bad they won't address the sheath issue. For the cost the sheath should fit properly. I contacted them and at first they told me where I could have one custom made to fit properly. What? Shouldn't they be the ones to fix a known issue? They then sent me a replacement that was just as bad. I contacted them again and they sent me a Kydex one. Better, but it's Kydex which equals ugly, bigger than needs to be and noisy. The 1/8" that needs to be adjusted to the leather pattern would be a minor thing to fix and make this a great product. Too bad they don't care enough to fix it. It would save them money as well. In all fairness I knew of the sheath issue. That's why I only dropped it 1 star. The knife fits perfectly for the job I wanted it for mainly. Skinning geese and EDC. I may look into a custom sheath after all. It's just a shame that I should have to.
got this knife a while back its a back up knife for me it stays sharp love the handle for a small blade the handle works great and fells great
I just had to pick this guy up before they went out for good. I was looking for a good fixed blade to keep on my belt for outdoors work, something I could reliably use with gloves on. This knife fit the bill perfectly. Perfect size, yet a great slicer. I honestly thought that the knife would be a bit too small at first but actually using it proved otherwise. My only issue is with the sheath though. It's not bad, but it's also not that good. The leather could be of better quality, and it started to sag on my belt rather quickly. Still plenty usable though. Hopefully with the newer models coming out soon they make better sheaths.
I received the knife @ the earliest as expected, I like the handles as well as the blade, should be @ least 3 inches, but It’s alright, compactness, when packing is great!Bravo! Bladehq!!! your’e the “ go to” on line for anything KNIFE!!!! unlike others!!!!!
a nice little knife, the sheath is beautiful but it could function a little better
I bought this knife as a backup to my larger hunting knife but once i got it in my hands i just love the size and ergonomics of it. Its a great little knife for skinning deer.
The steel has a bunch of rough tool marks on the bottom of the spine. Run my fingernail down it and it catches on the ridges. I love my other benchmade’s but I’m not too impressed with this one.
