Funny thing about knives. I own several. But, never seem to be able to use more than one at a time. For over 15 years I carried a mini-reflex on most days. It was there when I cut shavings for the last fire I built for my father. It was there when I dug slivers out of the kids, cut vines in the woods and confidentially carried it where I couldn't have taken anything else. Every time I called on it, it worked. Never jammed, forever sharp. Maybe the the most reliable thing I have ever owned.

Yep, I lost it. Somehow, I managed to lose my constant companion of over 15 years. I have other knives to carry. But, I missed the mini reflex. Glad to have another. Because, I know, if I don't lose it, it will outlast me.

If you are going to carry an automatic, pick one that works every time.

I've had the Mini-Reflex II for about 2 months. I've carried it almost every day since. It's an impressive little knife, fit and finish are superb and it snaps open smartly. It is very lightweight and ergonomic. I have large hands but the fit is fine for me. The 154CM blade is thin with a full flat grind so it slices easily through normal daily cutting tasks. Of course it's not a heavy duty, overbuilt knife but that's not what I want for an everyday light duty cutting tool. Thus far, the 2551 has been just about perfect for my needs. If I have any criticism of the Mini Reflex it would be that it sort of looks like a steak knife in profile. That's not a bad thing actually--it doesn't look threatening to most people.

I'm not an expert on automatic knives but I've owned and carried a lot of knives over many years. Some of the best have been Benchmade models. I'm happy to report the 2551 is one of my favorite all time models.

Love it

Having tried a few different autos, I can say that this one is totally worth the money. It opens nice and snappy every time, no matter how you do it. With some of the cheaper ones it doesn't open right if you press the button too slow or squeeze it too tight - it's totally reliable and you can't get it to fail no matter what. The handle has a nice grippy finish on it, and the black finish on the blade looks sharp. The blade comes nice and sharp, and it passes the paper test with flying colors. And of course if it ever breaks you get Benchmade's lifetime warranty, which is a big plus for an automatic especially. All in all I just love this blade - you can't go wrong with a Benchmade.
